The show is great and I think it definitely better than Jessica Jones but Spoiler I find the show is loosing steam after Cottonmouth died
Finished ten episodes so far, the middle "twist" was interesting. Loved the node to his original costume, kinda like Jessica Jones a but more for the story. But yeah, the soundtrack is amazing.
...I loved the 1st season of Power Man I know some had issues with the shows flow after Spoiler CottonMouth's exit but here's how I saw it. Power Man Season 1 Side-A is about Luke Cage's war against CottonMouth. Power Man Season 1 Side-B is about Black Mariah's rise to power and establishing her and Shades as Season 2s Antagonists its also setting up the plotline for Luke being cleared of the charges that sent him to prison in the 1st place.
Anyway, this show is my favorite from Netflix MCU. I love how unapologetically black it is and the multiple references to black culture within. Definitely better than Daredevil and Jessica Jones, through and through. And the soundtrack is phenomenal. Not to be a geek ass but Spoiler I'm bitter we didn't get to see Cottonmouth in a proper, semi-comic accurate costume. They gave Diamondback one which was nice, but yeah.
I just finished the third episode. It's good so far, but I'm not connecting with it the way I want to. Spoiler I really did like Pop though, and they did a good job showing how his death would motivate Luke. I'm glad the cop turned out to be dirty. That explains why he came off as an incompetent jerk to me. I also like that Cottonmouth does have sympathy for Pop and didn't want him in the crossfire even though he is still a man that will beat a man to death to make a point.
i like that too, makes him come of a lot more relatable to people who otherwise have nothing to do with him or his culture, very nicely done. Cottenmouth is a very compelling character so far.
Man this show is popular! Glad I finished yesterday. Hope Netflix gets fixed soon. Hope it isn't a DOS attack or something stupid like that.
Spoiler What happened to the shrapnel in Lukes gut from the first shot? - they only took it out from his shoulder wound Also - Award for the tv show with the most uses of the N word goes to.....
It's a show that consists of black characters and takes place in Harlem... of course it would be used frequently since that word is used so much in our community.
The Harlem theme got a bit overused imo, I like that there was a message but eventually I was waiting for Kenan Ivory Wayans to pop up with "message!" during every blah blah Harlem blah blah speech. It ended feeling like they were desperately trying to capture the same feeling of Hells Kitchen that works so well for Daredevil, but it just feel flat towards the end of the season. Loved the street at the end and how close they made diamondback costume look like the comic even if 90% didn't get the reference. And the Night Nurse picking the karate lessons flyer taught by Colleen Wing was a nice Easter egg. Willing to bet the barbershop becomes Heroes for Hire eventually.
Watched the first 2 episodes of Luke and its better than Jones, but kind of boring right now. It's awesome that we have Cottonmouth, but I want to see him wearing his purple Serpent Society garb (along with the rest of the group). I love the lighting though. Whoever is in charge of photography is damn good at this job.
Well that's lame. I wanted the Serpent Society and they mentioned Diamondback. No my hopes for the show has kind of dropped. However, now I want to see this dude in a pimp suit with the hat instead of the garbage clothes he is currently wearing.
Yeah, they went pretty old school for the villains for this series, but these two are much more appropriate here than the Serpent Society would be.
