Your priorities are more fucked than a Decepticon in a Bay movie if you hear about Gunn getting fired for the reasons he did and go, "Yay, now he can work for something else I like instead of facing consequences!"

That’s equivalent to extreme feminism where the mere mention of masculinity is burned at nearest stake. What consequences? He hasn’t done anything wrong nor advocated anything he merely perpetrated shock humour that backfired?

What about the consequences of Bay's actions and his inappropriate conduct with women like Megan Fox?

Just because he's successfully used PR to avoid the pitfalls that many are finding themselves in today doesn't mean he is innocent and clean.

It also seems the former CEO of Paramount (the one responsible for signing off on all 5 movies in the bayverse) had some particularly awful skeletons in his closet that came out after his passing:

Needless to say, there are far worse things than making edgy comments on twitter

I'm inclined to disagree a bit. Firing Gunn from Guardians wasn't done as a "consequence", it was done to maintain public relations. I highly doubt the Disney executives care that much about the morals of the situation (if they did, they wouldn't have hired him in the first place with those Tweets plainly visible).

As far as Gunn himself goes, he's probably loaded. If he manages his money well, he could probably live off his Guardians money. He's not a child being punished. And with his talent, I'm sure he'll get work again, just under a studio with lower standards than Disney. As someone pointed out last page, Bay's been able to get away with some pretty...uh...eyebrow-raising stuff, so Paramount might be a likely option.

Finally, someone says this. It's sad people are sweeping this under the rug.

I will be honest I do agree with you. Trust me I love offensive jokes I honestly get more offended at people who take them seriously. But from all the stuff I heard about Hollywood or Hollyweird. Gunn might not be joking

    How about no.

I know James Gunn did stupid things he said on twitter but you better be careful what you say. Actions speak louder than words, and never consider something like that cause that can ruin a status quo.

Whatever happened to 'innocent until proven guilty'? Making tasteless jokes on Twitter and actually living them out are two very different things. Like it or not, the only thing Gunn has been proven guilty of are tasteless jokes.

That's fair, I just think it's a pretty strong accusation.

I will never forgive James Gunn for directing Slither, so I hope he has nothing to do with Transformers for the rest of eternity.

I wonder how long this thread will stay open feels strange talking about a possible pedo on this site. To be fair it feels strange talking about pedos, in general, I stopped watching the ted talks because they say people can be born pedophiles

The reason behind why Gunn's tweets have resurfaced is far more controversial than we're talking right now. And it's best we don't talk about it.

To keep it short, I believe he did apologise for them in 2012 but sometimes I guess sorry isn't enough.

As for my stance, James Gunn can be talented and can be a misstep. As far as I'm concerned most of what we feel is relying on the GOTG films and how he handled them (And because they're big budget films). He also wrote the Scooby Doo films, yeah...And he directed Super, which was at the time when Deadpool wasn't out yet and proved to be something to talk about.

Not to mention the second Guardians isn't perfect. Don't get me wrong, I like it a lot (probably one of my favorite Marvel movies), but it wasn't nearly as tight and streamlined as the first one. The first Guardians was actually written by someone other than Gunn, I can't help but wonder if she's part of the reason it was so exceptional.
