I remember reading an article a while back during filming of Mark saying he'll get his kids a cameo in the film or something. I wonder if they ever did

I also heard Peter Cullen finally got a cameo, and that one robot would speak in Mandarin Chinese only.

all these scenes probably got cut out so they could fit in more Asian-dick-sucking.

 

Mark said one of his kids made it in and I believe it was the kid the guy was holding when Lockdown's ship was flying over Chicago.

 

It would've been great to have his actual kids be the stars of the movie

The movie didn't even last 30 minutes in China.
So what? A movie being located somewhere else that isn't USA= Pandering?

I think I saw them in the first texas scene. There were two kids sitting in the background of the shot of Lucas driving and parking his car.

 

That's what I thought at first but Mark said only one was in the final cut.

 

A movie that had NO BUSINESS going to China. You could have set the rest of the movie anywhere else and it would have the same effect. But that's not all...
-The pointless product placement for Chinese products (yeah, there's the milk, but there's also Lenovo laptops, Chinese bottled water, a Chinese bank, Chinese real estate, Chinese booze...etc)
-The pointless Chinese stars cameos (dude in the elevator and dude with the guitar)
-The pointless casting of Li Bingbing (she did good in the movie, but holy shit did she serve no purpose)

None of this has any narrative value whatsoever and exists only to kiss China's ass. It's that blatant whoring out that pisses me off.

 

So if it was set in Europe:
"Dang pandering to European countries! Grrr!"

Set in Canada:
"Stupid pandering to the Canadians!"

Set in Mexico:
"I can't believe all this stupid pandering to the Mexicans!"

Set in US:
"It's all good, cause 'Merica!"

Also, they had to move to the China facility because they ran out if Transformium in the US, and needed to avoid getting caught by the government.

Lets not forget what country is the biggest country in production in the world!

Galvatron's plan revolved around blowing up the seed in a densly populated city, where are you going to find a lot of densly populated cities? That's right, China.

2.KSI's main factory was in China (you know like most companies), so

Galvatron needed to go to China to build an army.

So the movie pretty much needed to go to China to make the slightest bit of sense (I know that it didn't make much sense overall but the China move did).

It's not pandering JUST because it's set in China. It's pandering because it BLATANTLY shells out for Chinese products and jumps through all these hoops to appease to the Chinese audience when there is no need for it. I don't give a shit what country it happens in-if the last act is JUST set in Canada, that'd be fine. If they never shut up about Degrassi and Canada's maple syrup geysers (they have those, right?), THAT'S pandering. It's whoring themselves out that pisses me off.

And don't think America gets off easy-I got so sick of seeing Old Glory in this movie UOENO.

IDK, this still feels like a huge stretch. China isn't the only place with densely populated cities, and there ARE companies with their main factories in places other than China. Though I suppose for a tech company it kinda makes sense...I think we'll come to a draw for this.
