I'm much more used to DK's deep voice (his usual "yeaaaaahhhh", "OK!", and the other non-verbal noises he makes in the Smash games), so going 100% Seth Rogan is a unique direction. Incidentally, it kind of works given how different all the voices are and we already had Mario be a bit controversial until we finally could hear some of that Brooklyn accent in later trailers, so we'll see how it works out for DK.

 

literally the only thing going against this movie is Chris Pratt, the movie is really going to have to try harder to sell me on this acting choice.

 

Rogen Kong sounds fine I suppose, though he does sound more like Seth Rogen and not like a character he's voicing...

There's probably better options out there but I have a feeling they wanted the name because people know Seth Rogen.

 

I'm more wondering if Donkey Kong is supposed to be DK or DK Jr. If it's the former, it might be fun in the almost-certain sequel to see DK get brainwashed and end up in Mario's universe where he kidnaps Pauline. Mario has to fight him without any power-ups aside from a hammer while DK tosses barrels at him. It looks like they're taking the Mario Galaxy angle and introducing the Mario multiverse right away but it's unclear if they make it back to Mario's Brooklyn in this particular movie.

 

Honestly, he sounds kind of like Mantis, from Kung Fu Panda, and that actually works really well for DK.
Granted, I think that's just Seth's regular voice?

 

Donkey Kong of all characters growling 'Now you die' wasn't what I expected in the media outings this year but I'll roll with that.

 

I'm pretty sure I saw Cranky sitting next to Toadstool in the stands. I'm not really loving his voice.

 

Never played Donkey Kong, but I always imagined he'd eventually be voiced by Seth.

Pedro Pascal immediately made a better Mario than Chris Pratt, yes I’m going to be the one to say it.

 

Peach's castle at the bottom sort of looks like a Disney logo. That may have been a joke, I can't be sure.

 

Piranha Plants are machines?

 

Maybe it’s from a training course.

 

Princess Peach creates an obstacle course to train Mario, in which there are fake Piranha Plants and fake Bullet/Banzai Bills. Real Piranha Plants look like this.

 

You know, for how simple the designs of the Piranha Plants are...There's just something oddly sinister about them.
Especially these particular model. I think it's that smile.
