That's a nice clip. I really do like how expressive Mario is, always varying in levels of bemusement, reacting to what he sees and hears. The way he suddenly jolts and looks affronted when Toad shouts out how his brother's gonna die, frowning when that Cheep-Cheep glares at him, and overall conveying that charming sense of wonder. It's great how polite he is even in face of this strange new world, kindly giving that coin to the Toad, doffing his cap, giving a little wave to one. Very characterful  

There's a touch of selfishness to Toad's exuberance with how he's making a big deal of Mario's situation and his eagerness to visit the castle because of it. Not to say he's bad or the like, just excited to have any opportunity for adventure, but quite tactless considering Mario's brother is in enemy territory.

Obviously there's plentiful references and cameos to note, but the Toad's town really conveys how charming the place whilst contrasting the quiet elegance of Peach's castle. It really is good to get a better look at the casual goings-on of the Mushroom Kingdom, see what the people are like when they aren't magically transformed into blocks.

 

The voice is unfortunately growing on me.

 

Tiny little detail in the teaser trailer I just noticed. Right before that one unlucky Koopa gets clobbered by the snow catapult, right before impact, you can see wisps of magical smoke dissipating in front of him. Seems that big snowball had been aimed at Kamek, who pulled the classic move of teleporting out of the way just so the guy behind him gets hit instead. And then of course that one Koopa with the eyepatch turns to check on him, lifting the patch to show, yep, his other eye is just fine  


Anyway, few other details others have noted;
-Amidst the Yoshi horde, we don't actually see our classic bright green chap. May well be he's a surprise down the line, ala how we have a distinct Toad among his kin joining Mario and Peach.
-Halberds being the weapon of choice in the Mushroom Kingdom (and similarly with the Koopa's using spears) makes a lot of sense when you consider such weapons and their ilk are probably the only ones the Toads and their cute stubby little arms could use effectively  
-When Mario's flying in the Tanooki Suit, you briefly see a huge Bullet Bill pursuing him. Brave guy looks to be leading it away from the castle, bless him.

 

While I definitely understand and appreciate peoples criticisms to Mario's voice for the film It's grown on me for the most part, I think they could've chosen someone better but as is I don't actively despise it.

 

Hey, if Pratt as Mario is the worst the movie has, we're in for a fun movie   Everything I've seen makes me really excited to see it... the trailers have been pure serotonin for me

 

Love how it references more than just the first game. They even threw 3D World and Odyssey in there.

 

The first game is ICONIC, but there is so much from the other games that they'd be nuts NOT to reference things from them. It took 2 trailers for me to go from "oh uh, I don't know about this" to wanting a movie franchise.

Let's see how the movie is and hopefully I come out leaning more towards the latter than the former.

 

And I STILL want at least hints to Bowsette in it BTW!

 

Why do you keep hyping yourself up for the impossible?

All those burial plots you've got staked out for yourself must cost a fortune.

 

They wanted Anna and Elsa to get in a relationship for Frozen II so don’t be surprised.

 

The meme isn't going to ascend, man. Of if it does, it certainly wouldn't be the Bowsette the internet created.

 

Personally I just want two more things from this movie.

A reference to Wart and Veggies.

And the overworld theme from SMB 2 because that is my jam, yo!

Although I wouldn't say no to a teaser after credits scene where our famous Plumber picks up a warp whistle and blows into it while Peach shouts no and we find our intrepid plumber in the midst of a horde of Moblins. The NCU is a must!  

 

It could still happen.

Disney will just reveal they're actually not biological sisters so it's not as weird.

The latest clip with the Mushroom Kingdom was awesome. Though yeah, these mushroom people (does Toad's race have a name?) should really put up railings, those elevator blocks are an accident waiting to happen.
Laughed when I saw them "mine coins" by bonking the blocks from below.  

Is she not just a fan-art character? That's like wanting R63s of Optimus Prime and Megatron in the next TF movie. Not gonna happen.

Nice, Shy Guys! I hope more references from SMB2 will show up like Birdo and Mouser maybe.

I loved that the arena from side view is the layout of the very first Donkey Kong vs Mario game (I think back then, Mario did not even have a name).

 

That's true, she's not a Nintendo creation, so they have no legal copyright on her. I don't even see the point, the features that make her popular would be practically non existent judging by how Peach and Pauline are redesigned for the film.

 

An amusing tidbit regarding Bowsette: in the Mario Odyssey artbook it seems that Nintendo themselves had a similar idea at some point of development.
