It's fine. I like that Jack Black doesn't sound like Jack Black and that Toad isn't a high- pitched spaz that sounds like he chugs down meth and red bull with every meal anymore. It looks very nice too. I'm not interested in it, but I'm sure kids might enjoy it

I really hope this is as good as it looks and is successful. I'd love nothing more than for Nintendo to feel like they can branch out and expand their IPs in multimedia entertainment again. Imagine if this movie's success is what finally sees a Zelda movie or series being considered/greenlit by Nintendo. Zelda has even more potential as a series of movies than Mario does.

This looks fantastic. Jack Black as Bowser? Perfect. Keegan-Michael Key as Toad? Perfect. Chris Pratt as Mario? Jarring, but not the worst thing. It'll take some getting used to, but at the very least you can hear the slightest fart of a New Yawk accent. And I love the penguins from Mario 64 appearing. And I love how the little cocktease at the end of the trailer, which most trailers use to hype up a specific moment, with a new character or whatnot, is just Charlie Day screaming. I'm fine with the isekai plot. That was the original idea behind Mario.

I'm beginning to believe that Miyamoto honestly thinks that Chris Pratt is "so cool!" and insisted on casting him. If you know anything about him, you know he's weird as fuck.

I now shudder in anticipation of hearing Seth Rogen play Donkey Kong.

I mean if he just talks with his Mantis voice from Kung Fu Panda or something similar I'm sure he'll be fine. I doubt Nintendo signed off on any stoner humor jokes.

 

I guess it's not any weirder then the time Steve Urkel voiced Sonic the Hedgehog.

This movie will get delayed like the first Sonic movie due to fan outcry over the voice and his ass.

 

Pretty much everything is on point. Everything except Chris Pratt who makes it feel like anybody can come into the booth and do their Mario voice.

But Jack Black as Bowser sounds great and they definitely make it seem like he's a villain to take seriously at the start instead of resorting to goofy moments.

 

Seems pretty good! I hope Wario's in it hehe.

 

If we can't have Danny DeVito as Mario, then we should at least get DeVito as Wario.

 

Yep, I'm going to enjoy this even though Mario's voice is a bit jarring. But it is what it is.

 

Actually, many pre 90s fans love it as he sounds more like the original mario. Don't forget mario had an american accent first for almost two decades before mario 64 came along.

It's the post mario 64 fans that are throwing the big fit over it and many of the 80s and early 90s fans like the voice!

I went on to check the Cast list, because a lot of people were saying Rogan was the voice of DK, & no joke, I was "Rogan? ... as in JOE Rogan?"; So I checked, and its Seth Rogen. ROGEN.

But this also made me learn of 2 (if not four more) characters making cameos.

So, according to Wikipedia, Charles Martinet (the voice of Mario & Luigi in the games) is IN the Super Mario Bros Movie in Undisclosed Cameos. Since Mario and Luigi are voiced by Chris Pratt and Charlie Day, and only other character left to be seeing is Cranky, who is voice by Fred Armisen - then this leaves only 4 known characters Martinet does in the SMBros. Franchise:

Babies Mario & Luigi - so possibly a bit of backstory will happen.


And (YES PLEASE) Wario, & Waluigi. But my hunch would be Likely sequel baiting.

 

Martinet is listed as additional voices, so I'm thinking background characters and cameos.
