One thing IDW has done that makes me smile, well one of many, is including many different styles of bots on their pages. Take MTMTE 31 for example. Riptide is featured pretty largely in it but his appearance is that of a Prime design; ie nose-less. He also shares the book with Rodimus who is almost Animated in appearance (almost), Starscream who wore his FoC body, and Megatron who is definitely a Classics-esque body.

My point, and the reason I made this topic in the Toy sub-forum is that thanks to IDW I can comfortably combine lines that I normally wouldn't. I'm so thankful for that.

I foresaw a day I take down my Prime display and didn't know what I'd end up doing with some of them. Now I don't think I'd have all that much hesitation throwing them into a Classics's/IDW display, even FE Bulkhead. YAY!

It also helps that certain lines share certain aesthetics with each other, minus some intrusive gimmicks. The Decepticons designed specifically for Energon, as an example, always felt right with Classics to me.

I'm loving that IDW has gone from just being another modern G1 universe into something that included elements and characters from other series in the franchise into it. Makes it feel more like a Generations universe in that regard. It's also cool that a lot of the designs in the current comics especially in MTMTE and Windblade is a little Prime inspired too.

Not just that, in the Windblade series, some of the Abominus components from the Beast Hunters line are making appearances as characters.

IDW makes me care about the toys, Hasbro and 3rd party. Ever since MTMTE and RiD my classics collection has boomed.

I said something similar in another thread recently. My examples were putting Beast Wars styled figures like Rattrap and Rhinox into my "Classics" display.

For me Classics is no longer purely G1. If I kept it G1, then certain other characters would never appear in it.

However I don't think I'd fold that many Prime styled figures into my display, unless some appeared in the comics of course. I've got GDO Cliffjumper there, and that's the only one so far.

Man, I'm stoked about IDW. I was really into TFP before, but Hasbro's decision to upsize the Legion figures into Deluxes really disappointed me. The Voyagers are not that bad, but they should've upsized Hardshell and a lot of fans would've been pleased.

Man, I hope we get a Skylynx or Broadside based on the IDW comics or they could do the same thing they did with Whirl and just add a few nods to the comics.

This. They should give the books away for how much money they've inspired me to spend.

Totally true I have Prime Magnus as MTMTE Magnus, Animated Rodimus as MTMTE, BH Shockwave as DC Shockwave (close enough), Prime Wheeljack as RID wheeljack, and Prime Bulkhead as IDW labor guild Bulkhead. I LOVE combining my collections, thank you IDW.

I agree. Plus I feel like Cybertronians probably traveled through the galaxy so they probably adopted different aesthetics from what the "Earth" Autobots would have.

yeah thats one great thing about IDW- I remember being super excited that they used the ROTF Lockdown design in IDW.

For those who care about keeping lines of toys together on the shelf, it's a great reason to mix and match different lines yet feel like they belong together.

My only thing with mixing Prime with my CHUG figures is the proportions. They're all very stylized and their arms are slightly longer than is anatomically correct.
