Curious if Thunder Convoy may be sold on it's own without the armor / trailer as well as with, like Ghento was, and how well it will look.

I doubt it. The figure that goes into the armour looked too simple to be sold as a stand alone. Didn't look bad but can you imagine buying just the truck can for G1 PMP back in 1987? Kinda like that.

I wonder if they'll give us a Nova Prime again or maybe just something completely off the wall that is essentially a unique design.

Would be nice if someone made a Powermaster Prime that was actually a Powermaster. Both Hasbro and Xovergen missed that part of their Powermaster Optimus toys, and focused on the super mode instead!

Maybe they'll throw a left fielder by having these two combine akin to how Magnus and Fire-truck Optimus did in RiD? I'm just thinking crazy at this point, heh.

Damn it, now I have even more decisions to make!!! Guess I'll just hold off on everything for now and see where MT goes with all this.

Yep, I am not convinced that MT will create an armor for Striker Manus now that this has been revealed. A bit stupid of them, but good for people who don't want to buy an OP twice.

Powermaster-style toy "locking" is a fairly poor gimmick though, or at least not one many adult collectors look back on fondly. Ask anyone who's bought a Cybertron Primus sans Omega Lock... Or indeed a few of the vintage Powermasters, who are quite annoying to transform without an engine figure.

Not saying I'm opposed to the idea of "engine" figures, FP Steelcore is a lovely exampleof how it can look, but making it "actually a Powermaster" would probably hurt any figure overall.

I love the idea of this, but I really have no need for a Powermaster Prime. And it's very interesting to hear that it's an entirely new figure as opposed to an armor set.

And then there's this that sounds.... Really weird. Can't say I'm too fond of a "Zombie Magnus" either. Good thing I'm happy with CW Leader Magnus as I really have no interest in what's being described. Though that's not to say I wouldn't be interested in a more proper Magnus.

Can anyone comment on whether the core Optimus in this set is based on Maketoys' plain "Manus" artwork, or is it another original take? I love that design....

From what we understand so far the more g1 looking designs are just artwork related to MT's comic fiction they're doing alongside these, and not indicative of designs for actual figures.

My guess they serve as "here is what the character was" and when becoming a figure its "here is how they now are". The concept seems to be every single g1 guy going through a transition towards a new form that is represented in this line. I think of it like how many of the beast wars guys became transmetals.

I was just saying to my girlfriend yesterday (after we saw an actual dumpster fire) that "Dumpster Fire" would be a great name for a punk band.

I got the phrase from the best friends on youtube, they use it a lot whenever they talk about something being really terrible, usually uttered when they're playing an especially bad game. lol

I do not mean a "locking" system that prohibits transformation until you place in the Powermaster, I can't think of a single person who wants that. I just mean a little guy who turns into an engine and plugs in cosmetically to the larger robot.

I like the look of the figure, but considering I have Striker Manus, I'm not sure if I really need to get this guy. He'll have to really "wow" me in the future to convince me to get him.

So some pictures have finally gone up of Thunder Convoy now named Thunder Manus. Maybe Convoy was treading too close to the line.

    thunder manus1.jpg thunder manus2.jpg

This a fully fledged new figure with a wee transforming can and NOT and armour kit for Striker Manus.
