My big question is "what facesculpt will he have?"

Will he go for a Headmasters style head, or will he go for the US Sunbow animation model in Rebirth?

Not feeling this at all. Size aside, if I wanted something like this I would have stuck with my Energon/Superlink Scorponok. I realise I'm looking at concept art and I'll still pop in for a peek at protos when they come out, but for now, just not interested. It's far too reimagined for my tastes and the overall design, proportions, look and feel don't evoke "Scorponok".

I really hope that if MT goes ahead with their take on Trypticon, they stay a lot closer to the G1 source material. Something like what they did with Utopia where it's clearly not meant to be a slavish "G1 with articulation" deal, but is still rather Metroplex-y.

Cool, this is actually a Linear style render from the 3D model! So it's pretty far along then!

Check out the chain on his neck! Maybe he will be another characters pet!

Hmm. I was hoping for something less gorilla-like. Quite a drastic departure compared with Utopia, who was very G1-esque. As someone else said, the claw hands look too much like a machine hand and not pincer-shaped enough.

Personally, since they went G1 homage with Utopia, I'm surprised they went this route. Has a ROTF Devastator vibe to me. Was expecting something more...regal in presence. Afterall, Scorponok was the Decepticon leader after Galvatron. And the city-bot line seems to be G1 inspired. Disappointed that I don't like it. I want to but just cannot. Hope Trypticon turns out better

Yep, or you can wait to see which one will get repainted into Black Zarak then buy the other.

One thing worth noting too is that he appears to not be standing up straight in these photos, but is rather hunched over.

May well be he'll look better standing up properly.

Well with just a drawing we have plenty of time to save up :D  over a year I'd think. So that's good! You could put like 20 bucks away every two weeks and have more then enough by the time it's out.

Maketoys just shifted into 5th gear it seems.

I want Utopia and this maybe too if it's just as cool looking and transforming!

I'm not feeling it. Those claws and head are too small.

I loved the G1 touch they added on their previous figures, but this one looks like a Bay-former to me. Maybe Scorponok will look better as they advance in production.
    I hope so!

    Began the Scorponok wars have.

I like it. Its more like ScorpoHULK than ScorpoNOK right?

Considering PE have only giving us a blacked out silhouette (of pre-existing art), it is nice to get good impression of what Maketoys are going to do.

Lord only knows how much this will cost though.

I was initially put off by how hunched over he is, it looks like a games workshop ork with power klaws!
But, it works for him, clearly they're shooting for a gigantic, monstrous version of scorponok while pe are doing the more characterised idw scorpy.
If it's anywhere near as nice as utopia has turned out I could see myself buying this.

Those claws have got to be more scorpion like though, lots of people have brought it up and with good reason, they should be far more elongated.

The concept of a ruined city is very interesting too, I look forward to seeing how they'll get that across in a transformer.
