Going back a few pages, looks like others have had this issue. I don't really care that much to investigate further since Stinger's already in storage for my move next month, but in my opinion, it's not that bad.

TFSource is running a sale. 250 dollars for this guy. That's a stellar deal.

Gah, do I bite on this or wait to see if Hasbro does what they did with Titans return Fort Max when they release scorponok?

An Hasbro Scorponok is basically certain, maybe even next year. If you specifically want Black Zarack, that's more difficult unless Takara steps in and do a remold for their Generations Select line.

That's just it, they stretched out the mold by doing grand Maximus, so I would think that they would do the same with scorponok and black zarak.

I specifically got Devil Stinger bc I wanted a small version of a Hastak titan, even shorter than Trypticon since in some parts of Masterforce he's about the same size as Overlord. Plus I just wanted him to be a whole different mold than Scorponok.

So what you're saying is that this guy is likely to be much smaller than a Hasbro / Takara release, and that's more animation accurate? Because that's almost exactly how to get me to buy one ;)

Pretty much, it was a big reason why I bought him. Scale wise Black Zarak isn't a titan, Skorponk is much larger than him.

And frankly Devil Stinger is an awesome toy, be prepared for a work out if you want to transform him though lol. At $250 that is a steal, I got him for $315 and I felt that was a deal. ;)

I checked their site, and they have at least 10 of them. So I think I'm going to wait until they have another sale, maybe around Black Friday.

Definitely much smaller. A Takara Black Zarack is going to be 2 feet tall while Devil Stinger is 14-15 inches. Don't expect too much animation accuracy though, the Pandinus/Devil Stinger mold is stylized and has different proportions.

I'm kind of tempted by a $250 price tag on this guy...

I have Pandinus and he is pretty awesome - but he is SO BIG and takes so much room and care to transform that I'd characterize it much more as work than fun. I don't have room for a brother for this guy, but if anyone is on the fence - I definitely recommend doing it. The mold is really cool - and BLOWS any HasTak titans figure out of the water - both in transformation, materials, heftiness, articulation, etc.

I stopped comparing HasTak figures to 3P long ago. It's like comparing dog food to steak. They aren't really even in the same race...

More likely smaller, but not animation accurate. Personally, that's perfectly fine with me for CHUG. I only require animation accurate for my MPs.

If i were to guess, I doubt it'd be 2 ft. Trypty wasn't and he prob be some retool of him. Still, I'm going with MT's version to be smaller height wise.

    Here's a fan made sample.

I never really understood the idea of Scorponok as a Trypticon retool. Scorponok has a humanoid build, it's easier to take Fortress Maximus, retool the hands into claws and add a little tail on the back.

Probably stems from the idea that Hastak would reuse the mold somehow and that they don't really make 2ft tall Titans since the Metroplex mold. I don't really count Omega if the 2ft standard counts the top of his tracks. I mean the Hastak Scorponok still might be "2ft" if you count the top of the tail....

    Who knows at this point.

I would totally expect that. Something like Trypticon height but still listed as "2ft" simply cause the tail was "made" to sit above him in bot mode.

It definitely works. I did one out of Maximus' mold brother, Metroplex. Figure I'll give it a share, all these years later.

And Hasbro could do a lot better than I could, if they went the remold route
