I know this guy is supposed to Inferno, but does anyone else think he looks a bit like hoist, just his robot silhouette, the squat nature of the figure, the arm hose, even the head sculpt...at least from what I can make of it or see!?

 

Yeah i thought he was hoist when i first laid eyes on him.

 

If this tends out to be Inferno, maybe they'll make a Grapple to.

 

It looks like Inferno, and the name would indicate it. Not doing Grapple would just be insane, so insane I would personally have them sent to the 'Funny Farm'. Besides two obvious possibilities for the molds, Hauler and Artfire. Four characters out of one mold is pretty good.

 

There is no 'if' it's Inferno at all.....



Even the name is talking about intense heat. The only difference is the head hood hose is on the other side to the artwork. The rest is there it's just slightly differently proportioned and not as 'tall'. Shoulder columns. Check. Three pronged forehead. Check. Wings. Check, Hood. Check. Hose. Check. Ass wheels. Check.

Show me a G1 Sunbow picture where Sideswipe has such a wide chest hood, when you give up on that get a picture of Bumblebee that perfectly captures the MP figure's proportions. Stuck? Try Red Alert without door wings...in fact try and get a screen shot of Red Alert looking identical to Sideswipe is in the cartoon.

The point is MP references the cartoon but real world vehicles physics means there is no exact match. This Inferno will most likely fall into line with those guys (hopefully) looking like a Fuso with all of the pertinent design nods in robot mode.

They're high enough on his waist that I'd have called them love handles, but whatever.  

You're probably right about the identity. And you'll get no argument from me about real-world engineering necessitating changes. I like variations and adaptations anyway, which is why I'm fine with Classics Inferno, why I preferred Krank, why I don't generally collect MPs. All I know is that I saw interminable bitching by many MP collectors about Omni Sunstreaker about waists and width of the hood and split windows, or stumpiness of Brawny, or Krank looking too heroic, or Bii's hood transformation (which, IMO, is a far more elegant solution than MP BB's transformation, with the fake windshield), or Old Soldier's proportions. The apparent design of Hellfire seems like a recipe for more moaning and whining.

BTW, I'm curious about Inferno's hood. In the original toy, was that parts-formed from the back of the alt to the top of the cab in robot mode?

 

I think ppl tend to remember what is convenient, forget what proves them wrong and generally like a good moan sadly.

Nothing if you collect classics. For an MP shelf it's severely lacking.

 

Nothing at all. I just want an Inferno that resembles the G1 toy's proportions more (longer legs, slimmer torso and more visible waist). I really hope this guy doesn't veer too far into the toon aesthetics, but I'll probably be over-ruled on that.

I also just realized this guy's name is Hellfire. I want to buy it based on that alone now.

Damnit. Of the three, this is the Maketoys MP figure I am most excited to see, so when I see the thread pop up with a new post I genuinely expected to see prototype pics.  

 

I hope it's not too G1 toy accurate. I HATED that toy. His feet were the same length as his torso. He looked like a clown, and the ladder was always in the way. I suspect they will get the proportions reigned in, maybe a little toon in there. But that G1 toy was bad, even in comparison to other G1 bricks. I can't think of any TFs as a kid that I disliked as much as Inferno. I have hopes that this could actually make me like the character more.

 

I was hoping the thread bump meant that proto pics were put in.


Now I'm sad.  

 

Haha, same. Would have preferred to wait longer for Cupola pics and got Hellfire pics today instead.

And to think their were people who thought it wasn't inferno haha. Might as well confirm an eventual MT Grapple at this point too since he'd be the first easy retool.
