MT Gun Dog is also closer to the toy design with how his feet look and in the toy colors. Something that hasn't been pointed out as much as I'd like to have seen. I'm also very happy with mine and after the issues plaguing MP-47 Hound, I'm glad I have Gun Dog more than ever. IF, and I mean IF Takara issues a MP-47+ toy colors Hound and they find the chipping paint and cracking plastic issues, I'd buy it. But I will still keep my Gun Dog. He's so worth it in my point of view.
Gun Dog is awesome. One my favorites in my collection. Especially for being a bigger fan of the G1 toy look vs cartoon for most figures.
In case anyone's looking for one, just listed my 2N (cartoon) Gundog for sale here: Maketoys Gun Dog 2N (Cartoon ver.), complete, never transformed
Little late to the game but i recently picked up the toon colored Gundog from a user on the forums here. I'm really happy with how he looks & have no desire to move on to either FT or TT. After looking at the comparison pics above i do mildly wish i had gotten fortunate enough to run across the toy colored instead, they did such a lovely job with it.
I've also stuck with Gundog having previously bought the Takara. The official no doubt looks the part in both modes, but it's important to me that a bot is also fun to handle, and sadly the Takara fell well short in that department. Which is strange as it's often an area Takara does so well in. But with Hound, I was too terrified of cracks to properly enjoy him, despite only having one crack on my copy. In contrast, I reckon you could throw Gundog into the sun and he'd survive pretty much unscathed. It was a tough decision (I got the Takara on release and it took me until last week to decide!), but I just enjoy Gundog so much.
Was just messing with mine last night. Still very satisfied. I thought about the FT version but more because the grass seems greener on the other side. I had the G1 version too as a kid and Gundog fits the bill to me like the pics above.
