I'll need to see more pics of the MP and see if that is final colors/deco (suspicious they haven't finalized the winch yet), but based off initial impressions my 2Y seems closer to the MP I'd want than this will be. But it's not bad at all, the further better pictures we know are coming may make a difference.

 

I think I'll stick with GunDog. Don't get me wrong, TT's figure looks great, but the days of paying them through the nose have passed. With BadCube making toon accurate Sideswipe and Red Alert, I can't justify Takara's pricing anymore.

 

I can see the appeal of the new MP for the sunbow fans and if I was one, I would've bought FT Willy and now regretted it.

But I'm not a Sunbow fan (never have been, never will be: Marvel is my G1 story and the toys had a lot of impact on me), I specifically bought the toy version of Gundog over the toon version and over FT Wily.

Funny, because I never owned the G1 toy, but when I thought of G1 Hound in all those years, I thought of the toy with some improvements. To me, Gundog 2Y is a masterpiece of the toy with update engineering and articulation. And that's what I want: the colours, the chrome weapons and the big feet.

 

My gun dog is missing the plate on the right leg that opens to go under the side doors in vehicle mode. It was like that straight out of the box. Maketoys would not help me replace this missing part. As a result, it is the one MP I am looking to upgrade.

 

I kept my TY Gundog with my Diaclone/repaints/replaced cars ... still love him for that dark green!

 

I am looking for toon colours, though I may consider the toy version if shoulder is fixed and in good condition. I live in Canada. Pls feel free to pm me your offer

Having just bought Gundog a few weeks ago my initial reaction to the TT announcement was regret — until I saw the pics of the TT. It looks pretty damn horrible. Admittedly I’m not a strict cartoon aesthetic fan so I’m biased.

 

Not like you, I do like both Gundog and MP Hound's look, and I like them even more because they look so different. (While FT Wills looks very similar to MP Hound).
So here is the question: what other character that MP Hound mold can be repaint to? I would like to keep Gundog as my Hound, buy the MP repaint as a different character if it's possible.

I never got Willis or Gundog, but I love Maketoys' MP stuff.

If I wanted a toy version of Hound, Gundog is it. He looks great.

 

The MP looks a lot like FT Willis. If that's what I was going for I don't know that I'd replace it.

But I never wanted the Sunbow look either. Not exactly. I wanted a really cool looking Hound that is obviously G1 Hound, and mostly from the cartoon, but, y'know, better.

And GunDog is seriously one of my favorite MPs. One of the the best things on the shelf. That sucker aint going anywhere. The MP looks nice, it really does, but it aint no GunDog.

 

I envy anyone within enough free time to sit around online all day and search out/complain about things they find unappealing as if someone else will care enough to change their preferences.

Maybe after I win the lotto
