I wish MT would post more of their side stories/comic.
That is a nice fire truck. Figure looks rad, but not quite as hot spotty as I'd like.
If I didn't know who this was, I would have no idea it was supposed to be Hot Spot. TFC is much more recognizable. Colours will no doubt help, but at least give him a head resembling Hot Spot properly.
The altmode is pretty sweet though!
Exposed hands in alt mode?
That is extraordinarily lame, and well below the usual MT design standard. Maybe there's still time for them to find a better solution; after all, they obviously reworked and improved the Inferno/Grapple mold since its prototype reveal. Here's hoping they fix this as well.
Actually, the whole alt mode looks like it could use a bit of refining. It's a nice overall design, but the top - I can't call it a roof - looks like a mess of robot kibble. I'm thinking there might be some combiner parts that attach up there to give it a more complete look, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
You said it, man.
What happened, MakeToys? Your upcoming Hound, Inferno and Grapple are spot-on, but this Hotspot is way off-model.
Sure, it's a hell of a lot better than TFC's disaster, but HasTak did a much more accurate job:
Since when do retail figures trump third-party offerings???
It is extremely likely that some parts of the cab in alt mode are missing that cover the upper front portion of it.
Also here's a quick digibash of him I knocked up:
I'm sure panda or someone else will do a better one at some point, i just wanted to get a feel for how he'll look with some color. I'm very happy with how mt has tackled him. Very different but still has the hotspot design ques I feel are important (faceplate, arms formed from the cab, chest wheels etc) He's gonna look so damn bad ass when he's done, love him way more than Metalstorm or Diesel.
Damn, I may end up getting more of this set than I'd initially intended.
I'm a bit torn on this. I'm probably not getting the combiner, but I've always been a Hotspot fan so was very tempted to get this. So far I don't actually like this very much as Hotspot, but I do like the figure as a new character.
Hmmm. I have to give this round to TFC. MT takes Streetwise. The Grooves are a tie.
if those chest tires are made of soft rubber, I'm in. I mean I'll buy em ... i mean i'll buy him.
This isn't part of their masterpiece line. Their combiners take a lot of liberties with character design which is pretty refreshing actually.
Would like to see which part detaches and form the skeleton for guardia
It's all wrong...
I love how you listed three masterpiece figures from an entirely different line and are comparing them to classics figures that follow the same re-imagination motif MT has had for this completely different and separate line since the original giant set four years ago.
What is with peoples expectations now. MT does mp's and suddenly they're only allowed to use mp aesthetics? doods, they've been doing highly original takes of characters since the very beginning, this is 100% normal and standard for them and is why some of us are such huge fans of their work. They capture the spirit of the character and make it 10 times more bad ass than it was in g1 and this figure is no exception to that. MP expectations do not apply to classics figures, period.
This looks to bulky and busy in either mode! Hot Spot from Hasbro looks a lot better.
They do it all the time, normally small bits here and there, but there plenty on Quantron, such as the canopy to Overheat.
I really like the HasTak Hot Spot, but I think I'll wait for them to repaint it as Onslaught. This thing looks amazing to me, and I don't see it being repainted and rereleased.
I'm a little disappointed...does not look "hot spot" enough for me in bot mode nor in alt mode. However, I'm holding out hope that it nails the Defensor mode.
Most important to me is that Defensor MUST HAVE the flattest head in the Transformers Universe.
Okay, I get it. Apples and oranges.
I guess I just prefer the apples.
