Did you get the Maketoys release or the KO? Asking because he's specifically asking about the KO which isn't 1:1 with the original release.

Really? I was unaware of that fact. What scale is it? I've watched a few videos and the ko looks identical in size. This guy has a 3 part series and covers the ko in depth

I think MT ko is just 1:1. It's the GT devastator got OS version, which is Jinbao.

I'm talking in terms of aesthetic and quality. I should have clarified.

I've never handled one, but again from the video I posted they look in par. Of course as with any consumer good quality from unit to unit may vary. The og is still available but I don't feel it's worth the 350 dollars tfsource is asking for it. A complete used set in the 90- 125 range of you can find one is possible. Honestly at 99 in would give the ko set a go.

I don't want to spam up the thread talking about the KO when the KO has a thread (which has reports of paint and other q.c. issues.) I simply asked if you bought the original or the KO in relevance to the guy's question and I don't even think you answered that.

As style is aged of course and deviates a lot from original Devastator ,but for simple poses also KO ,if i find a,decent boxset, is very sturdy? In some comparisons Giant maketoys beats Gravity builder as stability, just speaking about
original ones. Giant is rather good and appears fun to play as chug toys so for ko prices i could proceed ,what do you think?

Need help please, I'm repackaging Maketoys Giant (first run) and there seems to be something missing, can anyone tell me what should be packed in the bottom left? The gun seemed to break and store into the other two boxes no problem. Thanks all.

Should be this part of the gun. From baltmatrix's review.

So weird, I had the whole gun before I started putting them away, and now that part of the weapon has just disappeared.

Solved! I'd put both half of the guns into the one box by accident, duh!

    (sorry for necro)

I'm thinking about picking up a set of these just to fiddle with. I've got a few questions for those who owned the set:

    1. How playable is it? I like to fidget with my figures more than just pose and leave.
    2. How much partsforming is involved? Hands are taken, and forearm chunks too I'm assuming. Is there anything else?
    3. Any QC foibles or particular weaknesses to worry about?

    1) Decently so. They're not particularly fragile or anything, but they do have the old 3P tight clearance issues in a few small areas, and some sharper edges that make them feel not quite as nice as official.
    2) Just the chest wing, and the forearms. Waist shield is built into Long Haul, the combiner head built into Hook (it actually doubles as his left foot), and the fists just flip out from the forearms. Long Haul stores the piledriver/jackhammer tips in his truck bed, that have to be removed and replaced when transforming him to robot/combined mode.
    3) Nothing widespread that I remember. The only thing I might note is that the last time I pulled mine off the shelf a few months ago, some of the joints were feeling a bit creaky, almost a bit scary to move. After all this time, whatever lubricant might have been on the joints has probably degraded. So that might be something to look into.

A friend of mine said the connection point on the set's Long Haul that plugs into the legs is a bit fragile, but can't personally vouch for that.

1-Verrrrrrrrrry. This set has so much character, especially the individual bots. Combiner holds together well and has an ok range of motion. Individual bots have pretty good articulation.
2-Can't really recall much on this point (mine's in storage).
3-The only point of concern I recall is that you have to extend & collapse the combiner's ankles for transformation, and it can be easy to miss.

Personally, I can never recommend the set enough. It's a unique take on all of the characters, and it all turns out a perfect blend of being its own thing and incorporating traditional G1 elements.

I've had this sitting on my coffee table for a month or so now and I don't think it's leaving any time soon.

Really really fun set. It represents most things I want from a CHUG combiner

    - Modernised robot and alt modes, not just Sunbow Accuracy.
    - Fun transformations with great handfeel.
    - Not overly partsform-y. Everything has a place to go in both modes (forearms become trailers for eg).
    - Combined mode is solid, and is a good size. Large enough, but doesn't sag under its own weight. Can hold a pose without tipping.

Everything was intuitive enough out of the box that I've only really had to look at instructions for Long Haul, so I'm still getting to grips with all the nifty ways you can combine the accessories for individual robot and vehicle mode. The forearms have tabs on either side but I can't for the life of me figure out what they're for.

Either way, for what I paid (150USD new), pretty chuffed with this.

^^^ 1000%. While we're dreaming: Top of my wish-list would be for them to tackle the the Arialbots. Then perhaps Abominus, then Predacons, then (maybe) circle back to Bruticus so we would no longer need to use the ROTF/Energon mold.
