Hate it cos it ugly. Their prime is actually pretty g1 so the not being slavish don't hold up.

Also it's a general rant that no 3p can put out a good white cab bot in amour magnus, which has been freely admitted. Way to only read what you want and ignore the rest dude.

I do wonder how long MT will be able to find support in an Alternate Reality series of characters. I hope it's a solid effort on their part as "new" is sorta needed and welcomed by me. If their other world Despotron is anything to judge by... good for them. They're certainly taking the effort seriously and showing a lot of potential.

The world and all products in it do not exist to please you. Complaining that an unannounced figure, from a line that already deviates like crazy (Rioter Despotron comes with a purple matrix) isn't making you a slavish G1 homage is both expected and a huge waste of everyone's time. Maybe start a new thread called "why doesn't anyone want my Ultra Magnus money?" instead of whining in a thread where no one even pretended they might.

 

Or you call it feed back as 3p's don't seem to get there is a market for that, maybe it's a market to small to be profitable. I don't know i am not a company with the resource to do that research but given this thread is about there Ultra Magnus wouldn't this actually be the perfect place to offer up such a complaint. you know to a company that makes armour using robots and seems to want to do this character, rather than flood a forum with a bunch of whiny why wont 3p's make toy X threads so no one can ever read any actual 3p news in here.

 

If only there was a thread specifically for that, so it didn't fill up the forum or waste time in unrelated threads!

 

Liking how they are building an original/alternate continuity with G1. I just hope that they keep the consistency.

I dont see Striker Magnus and Despotron having the same dystopian vibe with pieces of other 'bots hanging around their bodies. Literally 'parts-forming' !

 

I'm just guessing, but I think Striker Manus and Rioter Despotron are G1 Prime and Megs, transformed by Megs stealing the Matrix. The explosion also moved them to another dimension, which is where those dystopia characters come from. That would also explain Striker Manus standing next to Thunder Convoy as separate characters.

 

Seems not-Magnus appeared in the recent Cross Dimension comic.

The comic seems to call him "The Hunter".

 

Seems pretty messed up to me. Asymmetrical armor and such. He has the cobbled-together left shoulder and while we never get a good look at them, the legs seem to have the same details as what we have seen previously. So, yeah. He's still Franken-Zombie-Mad Maxnus.

Side note: there should be a premium release or preorder bonus that comes with the cloak.

 

All Transformers should come with cloaks. What are you talking about?  

 

That has always been the issue for me, I'm not too fond of his design as well the red thigh. His design is so out of place when I display him with my other UMagnus figures/collection. With his skeleton body-Zombie appearance, if I do get him, the only bot that can stand next to him is my Botcon 2012 Shattered Glass UM due to the skeleton face. Of course, this will be forgiven if Maketoy makes another UM where he got all his body part all intact; need to see that shiny red-white-blue like he just stepped out from the factory line.

Agreed! Zombie-Mad Max better comes with that cloak to be more meaningful just like the CD comic above, lol. And while we are at it, his left eye better comes with an added on to give that firing special effect like that last panel from the post above/ XMen Cable eye.

 

The artist is decent at drawing robots, but really can't tell a sequential story.

Wonder if this will be a retool of one of the other Cross Dimension figures? This is Ultra Magnus after all.

To be fair, that is usually the case with Third Party comics.

 

Striker Manus wakes up in a parallel dimension where Despotron defeated Manus, gets captured by Meteor and his Pursuers, meets Hummel, who is already captured. The baddies are attacked by the Hunter, who leaves Striker and Hummel trapped until Buster Skywing saves them. There is a big exploision and we see Hot Rod kneeling over some bodies.

 

I was able to figure out what was going on but it was super hard to parse the order in which the dialogue and art was meant to be read. I think Maketoys are trying to style this after a western comic in terms of the panel order but the dialogue seems to be structured like it would be in a manga, which is really clashing and egregious. It's a shame because I thought that as far as a "first episode" goes it told a decent story with good setup but MT really needs to figure out how to properly structure a comic.

 

Looks like in this alt universe Ultra Magnus previously go this ass handed to him (like he met ansixshot's bigger brother, LOL), was forced to scrounge parts from other fallen bots, stole DOTM Megatron's cloak, and is now wandering mad-max style across a barren landscape fighting groups of jobber-cons
