I for one love our space dildo overlord.

But really I love the design I really miss the tri-pod look so this will be mine.

I respect your opinion, but I'm not sure if everyone agrees that Galvatron's altmode is "iconic". Cartoon-wise, he really doesn't look like anything immediately identifiable. On sight, his cartoon model is suggestive of a super alien cement mixer.

    [IMG][IMG]

Toy-wise, his gun mode bears an unusual resemblance to a handheld power drill.

    upload_2018-6-7_9-16-42.png [IMG]

In fact, when I saw his toy in the store back in the 80's, I thought he was some kind of mole/drill tank as opposed to a cannon or artillery piece.

Definitely not to be antagonistic, but calling his altmode "iconic" begs the question: Iconic of what, exactly? Iconic of Galvatron? Of G1 as a whole? I'd disagree with the latter, as when most people think "Transformers" they think of good 'ol Optimus and his flat cab tractor trailer altmode, not the orange and purple macaroni drill/pistol/tank/whatever. If you mean of Galvatron... I suppose, insofar as an altmode that can best be described as "a thingy" can be "iconic".

I think most people remember Galvatron for his crown-head, giant orange cannon, and his healthy dose of crazy as opposed to his funky space gun/cannon mode.

Luke kissed his sister, and they were far better adjusted that these two. Given the bewildering level of shrieking nuttiness that IDW Galvatron and Arcee possess, if they want to go and grope each other's inner thighs all day, I say let them. It really won't mess them up as characters any further than they've already been messed up.

I dunno even as a kid I knew he was a sci-fi howitzer. As for the orange once you learn about toy safty laws it's kinda clear they didn't have a choice and rather then adding a cap they worked it into the design. I kinda like it myself.

Whatever kind of cannon that's supposed to be, it definitely appears to have a lot of penetrating power.

Honestly, I will wait to form an opinion on the alt mode until we get some more pics with better angles, and/or color images. Aside from Universe and Bayverse Galvatrons, he has always been a while repaint of Megatron in non-G1 iterations (Magnus syndrome?) so his space cannon has always been the identifiable alt mode. I bet a lot of fans wouldn't want anything different, though I would be happy with a tank or jet.

I don't think they already had this crazy, idiotic law with the orange cap in 1986 or did they?

I thought Galvatron’s alt-mode was shoddy and cobbled together as a kid and I still think that now, it’s just that even his robot mode sucked back then too. Thank gawd he looks like the badass he is these days!

My guess is that he'll scale with the other CD figures, so someplace between Voyager and Leader class.

So chances are high he's be shorter than PotP Rodimus in "Maximus" or whatever it's called mode?

Haha, well you surely got a different impression from him than me. I can understand your story, however I don't think that explaining (somewhat again?) why I find his altmode iconic will convey that impression. I will say that I wouldn't still be a fan of the Transformers if it weren't for the Movie and season three. I love Prime as much as the next man, however the Movie + season three...that's when I was like 'shit just got real...'.

He is. I have a Rodimus Unicronus and one of the Unrustables on my desk. Found this:

The Bastards are roughly an inch shorter than PotP "armored up" Rodimus.

Holy shit! Wasn't expecting a reveal so soon. Especially since Jetfire was only revealed, what? About a month ago? Not even?
Either way, bot mode looks incredible. I'm super stoked to finally have a good Galvatron in my collection. I really have no complaints. Maybe the cannon? Looks a little big to me, but considering how over-the-top the rest of the design is, I'm not bothered. Heck, even the back kibble doesn't bother me too much either.

But that alt mode... Yeesh. I mean, most of the CD figures have had pretty cluttered alt modes. I've seen people complain about Striker's alt, but at least his had some cohesion to it. This... Is just kinda bad. But then again, Galvy's alt mode has always been kinda dumb looking anyway.
Hopefully the armatures that connect the treads to the body have enough joints to maaaaaybe finagle a tank-y mode out of it...

Another little thing I noticed: it looks like he uses the same rail mounting system as Rioter Despotron for his arm cannon. So that means dual arm cannons should be possible for both Galvatron and Megatron!

It looks like Studio Ox Galvatron was possessed by Satan. I love it.

Not bad at all. Precolored Cannon mode is kinda eh but i'll wait to pass judgment. Especially since I display in robot mode anyway.

Galvadong mode looks like a Sigmund Freud nightmare.
