Looks like his design has some heavy Gundam influences going on:

 

All in on the CCC line from MakeToys... Storyline news is monumental. Now, I need to know how I can get my hands on that MT catalogue that was given out at TFCon Toronto... Hey, Mr Duckett, can you hook me up if you're gonna be at TFCon Windy City? Sadly, scheduling conflict has me stuck in DC.

Will look nice next to Botcon Devcon.

 

That looks like a customized gundam...Is that the character's design for the comic or it will be made as a toy?

I hope those hip attachment can be detached. Why can't they just copy the IDW design? No kibble, etc.

 

An IDW version should come from Perfect Effect. I say that because IDW Dai Atlas and Fort Max seem have similar design elements to me and PE did Warden. Just seems like they are the right company to make that figure.

I really enjoy what PE puts out, but their engineering skills leave a lot to be desired. That being said, I prefer Motobot over MMC's Arcee.

 

This is still just a MakeToys comic character, but I can't see them not making this figure. Especially considering that MP Star Saber is being made.

Yeah, the same way that Warden's tank mode definitely leaves something to be desired, but he is still a great figure. Actually until Warden came out, I did not have much hope for their figures.

 

I disagree. Maketoys sold me that they will do the IDW designs justice with their Manga Mech Trashtalk (IDW Swerve). It has that "it" factor when I look at it. Damn near perfect. I'm willing to bet that their take on Tailgate will do the same.

A very japanese character. Him and StarSaber are the sorts of old characters most western g1 fans wouldn't know existed.

But he's shown up in the comics a bunch since then same as StarSaber.

Maybe but takaras star saber is bigger than mp10 and this guy, if he gets made, will probably be a voyager. The aesthetics would also clash a bit gven the mp vs mt classics style differences.

If I remember right Dai Atlas is the size of Victory Saber, so he'd be bigger than even MP Star Saber to work in the same collection.

 

Dai Atlas here looks very much like a Sentinel Gundam. Especially the shoulders.

To be fair an IDW DA would be pretty amazing, especially since mt did such good jobs with Fallen and Swerve



But yeah obviously they're going for something very different and more gundam-ish.

I think the idw design would maybe be better suited to mmc anyway, him and IDW StarSaber seem perfect for cassys style and they'd look great standing next to Hex since they all have similar proportions/looks.
