Challenger and Peru Kill are Pioneers in Bay MP figures. Even if they're outdated, they absolutely deserve all the praise they get for what they did it at the time. UT as a company makes "fun" figures first and foremost, and I respect them for it.

Oh, I bought my latest version of Challenger from Ali Express for $100 plus $20 shipping. Honestly, I still think it's dumb to shit on the figure because of its age. On top of that, it received many positive reviews when it first released. There's nothing inherently wrong with the figure, other than looking a bit dated.

Exactly, plus the transformation is quite complex (and kind of annoying).

That’s actually not true. Mine came with a broken toe joint, and still pulled off some poses, and it was even better after getting the new piece.
Challenger looked dated from the get go, compared to other MPMs, like LT02. It’s the reason I sold mine, and the reason people started buying extra parts for it back then.

So u see, it’s not that I’m shitting on a 6 year old figure, it’s that I never liked the figure since I first pulled it out of the box. And I’m sure there’s plenty of people that can attest to that, including Shmop.
That’s also not true. As I’ve said bfr. The transformation is almost the same as Challenger, with a few extra steps. The hardest thing is getting the hood together, bcs of the clearances.

Eh I’m personally chilling. If the parts we’re talking about do end up being partsforming, I’ll likely just leave the vehicle ones on. Still far and away the most accurate mold.

I just like discussing the tiny details about these. It’s fun to think about how it’s gonna transform.

Speaking of which, I’d love to know if anyone has theories about how they think any OTHER parts will transform. I know it’s hard with the few truck pics we have but I think that’d be fun to theorize on.

bad example, because UT themselves have said that the twins are "appetizers" to fill a gap in between Stinger and a next figure, which the designer is spending his efforts on.
so, they were never meant to be all out great and accurate figures.

I'd say 118 plus shipping at Bombusbee for KOK isn't overpriced.
MM01 was really only overpriced because of the upgrade kit stuff. I think if it had the articulated hands from the beginning, everyone would have been fine with the price

yeah ut is a company full of engineers not artists. Their sculpting is usually off but god damn do they know how to make a transformer transform.

because it is still wildly imperfect. Even with that trash ass paint job and difference in price kok is better. Engineering isnt Bad enough to counter how much better kok looks.

in koks defense it came out at a good price then got spiked out of nowhere

u got me laughing on the toilet lmao

yeah, sad that hes sold out :/

    Whaaat?? How much was shipping??
I mean, to my fair to the complainers, I think he was like $240 or $260 when he first came out. But then they started giving out credits, bcs of they did overcharge the shipping.

In my case, someone actually screwed up, and gave me double the credit. So my MM01 only ended up costing me $180 :D
See, I can accept that explanation, and give UT a pass, vs blindly kissing Challenger’s ass, and saying how great it was, when it really wasn’t.

Was it the best we had at the time? Sure. But was it great? No. It was very far from it.

I didn't like the twins but can appreciate the work that's gone into this figure. I like the transformation. Hopefully we will see the other twin soon. Would love to see Unique toys take on sideswipe.

i just checked, 25usd for shipping to Europe

i actually bought the combo with mackron for less than 300euro shipped and sold mackron unopened for 230, so i got the KOK for cheap

i bought the first for 225euro shipped, so yeah that was around 250usd
sold it for 250euro and bought the V2 on discount at BBB for 195euro shipped.
and now i finally caved and bought the upgrade kit reissue for 65, partly because i need it to make a storage solution for the base

A simpler version of the same mechanism would be cool to see. I think it's doable. I've nver had to fight mine though, maybe yours has some pieces that aren't molded correctly?
    Spoiler alert: It won't be.

BECAUSE NO FIGURE IS PERFECT. Do yourself a favor and lower your expectations.
EXACTLY. Like their lives depend on a couple of pieces of a prototype not being perfect.
Got mine for a cool $113 shipped
It really was great at the time though, and it's fair to say that, while also saying that it's got a lot wrong with it. Same with Peru Kill. That figure sucks ass, but I will never ever deny that it was a game changer. It came out at a completely different time. 6-7 years is an eternity in toy design these days. Even stuff that came out 2-3 years ago looks dated now. There's nothing "blind" about the challenger ass kissing. KOK is MUCH better, but it has the benefit of a shit ton of progress in the industry.

Damn son!! Mine was $108 shipped. But that was after using my ShowZ points.
That’s uh.. that’s a contradiction. It’d be fair to say that it was good for its time, but great and “a lot wrong with it” don’t go hand in hand.
I’ll apply my answer above to this lol.
And I’ll say what I said bfr. I only compared the two bcs it was brought up by someone else. But I disliked Challenger from the get go.

Nah it makes perfect sense. You just feel differently because you never liked it (which is fine). But most people (like me) were in love with it at the time. To see such an impossible design actually transform, and not just transform, but be FUN to transform, and doing a good job at resembling the character. It was also only the second ever bayverse figure to have a clean front AND back, after PK.

But thinking something was good for the time and also not good now because it’s been surpassed is not contradictory at all. Think of a car that was considered the best car in 1950. You can say it was great for its time while also saying you’d never ever wanna drive one because it probably didn’t even have seatbelts, let alone Bluetooth or a backup camera haha! Know what I mean?

It’s not that I feel differently abt it bcs I didn’t like it. It’s that it was inaccurate, and those inaccuracies cld’ve been easily fixed, had they actually cared more abt the attention to the details.

It’s not like fixing him at the time was impossible with the tech they had at the time. We were already getting awesome MPMs.

They managed to better design the head not too long after releasing Challenger, and I give them kudos for that, even though u had but Dragoon to get it. But they cld’ve done the same with, at the very least, a new torso piece.

And remember that u urself ended up modding, and fixing the elbow guards. There’s no reason as to why UT themselves cldn’t have done that from the beginning.
This bad example. With the exception the seatbelts, everything ur mentioning is cosmetic. And even the seatbelts were first made back in the late 1800s. It just took the US a while… a looong while to implement them.

And the other thing is that cars were just made to be cars. They weren’t made to look, or replicate the look of something that already existed.

Which brings me to my original point. Something cannot be great, and yet have a lot wrong with it, especially in the case where it’s emulating to be something that already exists. So comparing an old car, that never existed bfr, to a new version of said car, is a bad example.
