Honestly fair, bot mode is super impressive and really fun to pose but I feel like they could have tried to replicate the actual truck a bit more and the transformation comes off a little undercooked in some areas as a result.
If that toylab figure ever comes out I think that would be more worthy of the mm price despite some details being a little off.

That being said the pointless base and lack of articulated hands might be influencing my opinion a bit.
Or carbot scale, that’s what I usually think of since ov-01 and osko bee and barricade exist

Haven’t watched rotb since the cinema but I vaguely remember a scene in Peru where the terrorcons are stood on top of a building and then step off and it looks like they start growing and the light doesn’t move on them at all,
again it’s a vague memory but if that’s true then that’s not great.
But also keep in mind they had to have an extra year to reach the point they did

Would it be more acceptable to want one if they keep the ugly head and truck inaccuracies but also charge more since @Zodiac1968340 has updated his post

I'm afraid of how fragile it may be, but it looks amazing!

I hope they do a good quality control...

I only own 2 3P figures, but I think buying the 4P OS Nero will forever skew my perception of pricing. I spent £60 on that behemoth of a figure.

    1. it's made by Black Mamba which is a big company
    2. they copied the engineering
    3. they use cheaper plastic

having to engineer something from the ground up, using high quality materials and high quality paint, yeah that'll raise the price exponentially

Yeah, I thought TLK was awesome. As in, I was literally awed by some of what Bay was trying to put onscreen. I also actually enjoyed the movie more than the rest of the Transformers franchise because of how ridiculous it had gotten. Outside of the shear impossibility of two planets coming into proximity with each other, the movie felt like it took place in an actual physical world. I wish that Bay had made a sequel to TLK just say I could see the shear horror and absurdity of Earth turning into Unicron.

Most of ROTB felt like I was watching a cartoon.

1800 RMB is almost $350 Cnd.

Damn I don't think I can swing that. Unless the Yuan utterly tanks between now and release.

AoE had some spotty vfx, but tbh I don't think it's any worse than the 07 movie. None of the Transformers movies have had bad vfx. There's basically two levels of Transformers vfx. 'Flawless' and 'mostly perfect with some hiccups.' A few shots here and there that make you go "oh, that didn't look real..." but then the rest is so good that you don't even question if it's real or not. I'd put 07, AoE, and RotB in that group, while RotF, DotM, TLK, and Bumblebee are all pretty much flawless solely in terms of VFX

Kind of on a tangent, visually speaking, not even just vfx, but color grading, shot composition, etc, TLK I think is the best looking live action Transformers. It's such an incredible shame it's a confusingly wretched mess of a movie, because some of it is genuinely breathtakingly gorgeous

Like just in that clip, you have the ancient knights that look perfectly real, and then having Optimus appear out of the smoke and dissect them from behind and then shove his way into view, all shiny to contrast with the knights, with the bright purple eyes. That's an incredible shot. And you have that quick shot with Cade centered in front of a dark background with the light beams shining up behind him, that looks really good. But then you have things like Optimus demanding "WHO DARES CHALLENGE ME?" as he marches away from the people he's talking to, and Vivian standing at the edge shouting "Shoot me! Go on! Shoot me or I'll drop it!" and it almost sounds like she's pleading with them to actually shoot her. What a mess that movie is...

On topic though, boy he's gonna be expensive huh. Depending on how much the final price actually ends up, I'll probably end up waiting for in-hand reviews and such to make sure it's good QC before casually dropping a few hundred $ on what essentially amounts to a fancy toy

TLK either looked really good or really wonky IMO, some shots were great but I noticed that whenever the autobots were walking on giant open fields, they always looked a bit fake. Just look at Bee when arriving in England, or when Optimus is running with Cade. Still better than ROTB though. The only CGI shots of ROTB that I genuinely liked were mainly in the final battle.

And holy cow, 350 Canadian for this, and 700 if you want to buy both...

Seriously, I don't get why they won't release a stripped down version of MM01. All they need to give me is the base figure with the improved elbow installed, articulated hand, and a rifle. I don't care for the other accessories or cybertronian parts. Keep it simple to reduce the price and I'm sure even more people would buy it.

Considering how much the 3Z figure is, and the fact that it looks worse AND doesn’t transform, close to $300 doesn’t seem unreasonable for this figure, if it indeed is going to live up to the hype we have right now (with paint, materials and posability) and that people are saying based on their last Optimus.

If I have to guess, I'd say it's because of cost. They would have to redesign and reproduce new boxes, while taking a hit in sales cause they now have to sell for cheaper. Plus they probably have a surplus of the bases lying around that they now have to offload.

The last knight had the best cinematography in the series ngl, but the vfx looks a bit off in my opinion. While the vfx looks great and crisp, it's not particularly realistic looking. I find them looking too metallic compared to how their actual cars look. For example here's a comparison of Bee from DOTM and TLK. The Bee screenshot from TLK looks almost like Gold while the DOTM screenshot looks closer to the actual car.

But on topic, I really hope the actual price doesn't end up being that expensive. I bought MM01 and absolutely loved it but hated the big pointless stand it came with and how the later batch had better arms. Really hope I don't have to buy an upgrade kit for an already expensive figure...

Articulated hands do not hold the gun well you need the moulded trigger hand for that as there is no slot to tab into on the gun.

another improvement would be to have the tab on the articulated hands preinstalled rather than having to remove the flat palm and add them.

They probably got rid of the base by midnight :lol . 200$ before shipping seems too optimistic though, this is going to be quite complex and has more components than MM01 and will use a lot more of paint, 230-250 seems ideal.

They can probably take the hand and gun from their Fire Scorpion mold and stick it on. We know this figure reuses some of the parts from Fire Scorpion/MPP 10

The arm kit came with slotted palms that hold the gun secure enough. It can definitely be knocked loose, but I can manipulate the arm and hand with it staying secure.

So far, it looks really good. As usual, things can change as we get more info. But even at $250-280, I would get at least one version. I'm leaning towards the DOTM design. MM doesn't have any release time frame yet so that's plenty of time to save up. $10-20 a month over the next year and it'll be almost paid off... *final price depending*.

That price certainly sounds a bit easier to take

In defence of that TLK shot, Bee is in the line of a flashlight beam at a similar angle as the camera, so you get the same odd lighting that you get when you use your phone camera with the flash on. He's also covered in water droplets, which is what's giving the "glittery" gold effect. In better lighting, the color and reflectiveness is a near perfect match for the car
