That's why I love TF1 Optimus, and why I'm not a big fan of AOE/TLK. The OT Prime has heroic proportions, but they're not typical. They remind me very much of Japanese mecha, with his long bottom-heavy legs, short torso, and angled shape to his bodyparts. (I especially love his back shapes, and it's one of the reasons I'm hyped for this figure :D ) It's not a typical human male physique, but it's still strong and elegant in its own way. AOE replaces this with more or less just a muscular human physique with rounded, bulbous limb parts and far more typical "superhero" proportions. It's also not as robotic-looking as TF1 Op, and lacks pretty much all vehicle kibble besides the smokestacks. It falls into every trap that original design avoided.

I think DOTM is overall more vibrant than 07 or ROTF, so it affects not only Prime but Bee, Ratchet, Dino and other characters/colours on screen.

I'd also like for them to go off the truck's colours, but a slightly more metallic blue rather than just pure dark would be best in my eyes

Same, if AOE Prime had more kibble showing I would like it more.

This design also say what you will about the flames, and the face, it's a damn good reimagining of Optimus Prime. Keeps what's iconic about the character, without being just G1 in live action (say this as someone who also loves BBM Optimus so no dig at it).

Speaking of accurate colors, what you see here on the smokestacks and truck visors is about what I'd like the silver truck parts to look like. Kind of a shiny satin silver. It gives a more believable polished metal look at this small scale than just basic chrome paint

Looking at their first release, we'll be eating real good in the paint department no matter what

I'm still bummed they didn't go with something closer to this concept art. It has a bit more truck kibble, and better evokes the original trilogy design with more angular and geometric parts, rather than being all smooth and rounded

Also I just noticed, every bot in AoE besides Bee and Optimus have asymmetric forearm details. Crosshairs, Drift, and Hound all have different details on each arm, and Optimus would have had asymmetric arms as well if they had gone with this concept art, as seen from the back view. That had to have been a conscious choice by someone on the design team, I wonder why

I think it still could use more kibble like wheels and the truck windows (but probably would be hard to place while keeping that cleaner chest) but it would have been cool yeah, dig the feet more resembling his previous design.

    Rumored price from baidu:
    1800~2000RMB

Update: MM said they haven't decided the price; 1800~2000RMB is probably just a guess by retailers

I remember everyone saying mm01 was far too expensive and would skip, including myself, and in the end we all bought it anyway

ROTB actually had a higher budget.

Also trust me, the budget had nothing to do with the worse CGI. It had everything to do with the VFX company, director, and on set staff that are supposed to keep track of lighting.
    nope, skipped and ain’t buying.

Imo, I think Bayverse designs, in general, look better on the big screen, the designs are more dynamic and have more functional mechanical details (not just greebles). Shatter and Dropkick looked amazing because of that, even if they are not "Bayformers"

I didn't buy it but because I dislike BBM Prime design

Compositing is a big part of it, too. Prime in those DOTM screen caps has those nice glints off his chrome and glossy paint, anywhere the hotspots are. That helps sell that he's a real object really being captured in-camera. I don't recall any of the vfx in ROTB including little optical flaws like that.

    280?

I expected worse, but sounds like MM-01 more or less. Once pre orders are up I'm getting mine.
