Both versions are good, and I don't understand how someone NA ver it doesn't look toon accurate ...

 

It might even be too toon accurate.  

But, I vastly prefer the sculpt of the Magic Square, which is more heroic, while the New Age 'Wave is too blocky, though perhaps not as bad as the Mech Planet Hot Soldiers 'Wave.

And, I really disliked the spindly figures on the alternate hands for the NA'W.

Finally, I also much prefer MS' Tape Team to NA's Cassetecons.

 

Same here this was 1 of the figures I wish NA did better as he is my favorite of all.

 

Lol the colors of MS are so bad, this is why I'd buy the metallic version if a got the chance

 

I wish there was a dark not metallic option for Magic Wave.

Then again, I went with Soundblaster because I care more for Laserbeak than for Frenzy and I like Soundblaster's deco equally to Soundwave's.

 

Honestly im my opinion MST Soundwave face is nicer, NA Soundwave face is more toon. In that time I decided for NA ver, cuz scale size and that you got three cassettes with him.

 

I think they are about equal but all my other decepticons are NA so that is what I went with. Same with Megatron. It was all the other figures that broke the tie, mostly the seekers really.

 

MST is possibly doing a reissue soon, check out their fb page, there is a poll there to show support for a voice ripple reissue!

it's really a matter of opinion. just from the side by side the NA vs cartoon image shows chunkier legs, the thighs are too short and not getting the gun right? since when in the history of transformers does his blaster sit in his hand like that? that's the biggest fail I seen for such a popular character as soundwave.

 

Just really would like an MS laserbeak, but NAs will do for now

 

The handle positioning causes the shoulder cannon to be too far forward as well. I think they did put it there in order to make it fit for alt mode but they really should have done something similar to MS or have the handle be able to slide and change positions.

 

Overall it's toon accurate. NA ver has good upper body proportions especially the shoulders, darker blue color and toon accurate headsculpt.

 

i’m playing catch-up with my legends collection and buying the pre-prime 2.0 deceptions as much as i can, and just voted - i think my single vote is going to tip the scale and cause them to green light the reissue  

 

I do hope we get a reissue! Trying to catch up is rough.

 

All I want is another Tape Set with Overkill, Slugfest, Glit, and Stripes.

 

Sorry for the bump. Managed to snag the metallic version for a good deal recently, and it's about as good as I expected (expectations were high). The plastic feels great, just like their metallic Megatron. I think there would be a lot less complaints about the use of nylon if they just painted their figures more often. My only real complaint is that you only get the awkward magic square relaxed hands, but it's not a big deal. Oh and no laser beak with my copy unfortunately, but it's not a big deal.

Articulation is surprisingly good, and you can even fake a decent forwards ab crunch. Not the greatest range, but it passes the crotch thrust test, so I reckon it's good enough.

 

Yeah, I was planning on buying all the painted MS figures but then this seemed to be the last one released. Hopefully they get back to it at some point.

 

Have to disagree on the MS relaxed hands being awkward, the NA open hands are worse in my opinion if you want to simulate, you know, relaxed hands. And AFAIK you only get Laserbeak with Soundblaster, I don't think my metallic MS Soundwave came with any Cassetticon.

I also have the toy deco NAwave and I think it looks good too.

 

Yeah to each their own. I just prefer fists over open hands for when not having a figure in an action pose. That and something about the way MS sculpts their relaxed hands is off-putting to me. The ring finger and pinkie are fused together with no seam line between them. Probably sounds like a pretty ridiculous nitpick to have, but it does bug me.

I'm pretty sure I read something about Laserbeak being a preorder bonus with metallic soundwave which was left out in later runs. But I haven't been in the 3p legends game for too long, so you might be right.
