Now that's damning by faint praise, zb2099! :lol

I was thrilled to find that he does come with a blaster.

The only thing I don't like about the figure is the limitations in posing that it has thanks to not having forward & backward tilt on the feet. It's only got the sideways tilt that Magnus suffers from too. Otherwise it's fantastic.

A superb face sculpt, and the transformation of the shoulders has the added benefit of allowing G1 toon shoulder placement, or a more anatomically correct shoulder placement. He's also got one of those ingenious transformations that I've come to expect from MST, as well as a great alt mode and really nice paint applications.

I've been critical of MST's face sculpts, but I agree -- this one is great.

    I guess I am setting a low bar. :D
Maybe in hand I can go a little higher.

I really like their Beachcomber. He's got a lot of articulation for such a tiny guy. And he's fun to transform and fiddle with like NewAge's Bumblebee.
I am hoping Huffer is just as much fun.

Considering how much PapaToy cut so many corners when it comes to the paint app for UM and the clear version is so useless as you can't barely see his face, now I wish, they would've just released this black prototype instead. He would stand perfect next to my black WST Heero G1 UM, pewter UM PVC, and the little UM black version that came with MP Grapple.

I have never understood the appeal of transparent variants. Even as someone with an interest in engineering I still find them pointless and hideous uses of plastic.

A transparent/clear or transparent/color Mirage would be the only one I'd actually want a variant of. For other figures besides TF, there's a few I would like either fully transparent or at least colored transparent (Invisible Woman, Vision, etc). Micronaut Time Traveler and all his variants were faves when I was a kid though.

Well yeah, I'll agree that it's cool when it makes sense for the character. Mirage, Starscream's ghost, mid-teleportation Skywarp or reformatting Megatron come to mind.

Irony of ironies, I just decided to dedicate an entire shelf to clear TFs! :D  I wish I could grab you a picture, but it's not really done yet.

The appeal is in the gummy. You know what they call a clear variant in Halo Mega Bloks? Gummies! :D  I guess because they are similar to gummy bears. Basically, brightly colored and reminiscent of candy (which should hopefully have a positive association in your mind).

If you get some lighting behind the clear toys, you also get some nice visual effects you just don't see in opaque samples.

The same reason that lucky draw toys are all chromed in gold (what's the utilitarian point of that?), clear variants are just fun to collect and own (for trophy reasons mostly).

    Here:
    Ultra-Magnus-Limited-MFT-MF-08-MechFansToys-Transformation-Action.jpg_640x640.jpg

There's no real "point" to this figure, though it is related to the G1 cartoon. You either see the inherent beauty/coolness of the fig or you don't.

But here's another cool fact: not many collectors will own this, and if you walked into a room full of TF figures, this one might catch your eye a lot sooner than the rest. :)  Plus, it never gets old to reference your "piss yellow" Magnus! :lol  :lol  :lol

I had a chance to buy that magnus from a guy that lived near me. But even at 15 bucks it wasn't speaking to me like I thought it would.

Now if he had ben smoked that is a whole different deal. I think smoke bots are the bees knees

I like your candy association. I had never thought of that.

I received my MS Huffer from hzj401 this week and he is fantastic........

I really love these Magic Square figures. I have Blaster and Trailbreaker coming so the Autobot group is filling out nicely....

I know this will sound somewhat strange, but I would like to continue to see them release all the Autobots (season 1-4) first, then concentrate on the Decepticons.....

Agreed. I have most of the major Decepticons already via DX9, but there are a lot of Autobots I still need at this scale. I am still pumped for that MS Menasor, though.
