Magic Square kicks Ass!

 

Same. So excited to finally get a decent ratchet.

 

This is the first Ratchet/Ironhide that I think actually looks like a true G1. Always thought the Takara looked fugly. Takara could learn a lot from Magic Square in terms of engineering. Never thought anyone would outdo them, but here we are, and MS Toys has done in consistently at a much smaller scaler.

 

Magic Square has really excelled at formulating a panel paradise of flips & folds. One piece of advice I could offer is to raise the ‘shoulder pads’, not extend the arms. I spent a minute or two trying to understand why the arms wouldn’t pull out as easily as the videos I’ve seen 

MS has become the transformation brand for me. To the point that I would probably buy a character I’m not interested in, as long as their transformation has that puzzle element I’ve grown to enjoy. Although it’s not much, Ken has more leg range going backwards than their recent releases that lost that ability. An overall solid release and representation of the character imo.

Could you measure it in both robot and alt mode?

Got him today and he looks amazing, just like the other recent MS figures. Sadly I got two left arms on mine so now I'll need to get a replacement part from ShowZ. They have always come through with this type of problem (MS hound had a defect in his arm for me as well.) Sadly I can't transform him with this error, so I'll just have to play with him in bot mode for now.

 

This fella showed up today from Showz! What an amazing Ironhide! I knew from the pictures he was gonna be good, but in hand I’m blown away by the awesomeness!

 

BBB has shipped my ratchet. The wait begins.

Are those water decals or stickers? I got them too, but I feel like I would need a magnifying glass to apply them. But if they are water slides I think I will throw the towel beforehand.

edit: he shipped the replacement parts I needed for Zeta Silverbolt with him too.

 

Had mine for about 4 days now.
I think this is the first mold for a transforming Ironhide figure I have ever just liked and not had to look passed flaws or visual oddities to appreciate.

I also got that emblem sheet from Show.Z, but I can’t tell if they are stickers or water slides.
Mine are either not cut correctly to come away from the sheet or they are just not stickers.

 

those look like typical dry rub. there's an extra clear layer that sits on top of the decal to help protect, as well as used to get the decal off the backing and allow you to apply it to the surface. you cut generously around the specific decal on the sheet. you peel the upper clear layer, which should also lift up the decal with it. you position and apply the decal to where you want it. rub it down to set the decal and peel off the top layer, which now should lift away from the applied decal and leaving it in place.

 

I just transformed it, best Ironhide ever. The transformation is really fun and intuitive. I didn't use the instructions, it's so well designed that you feel like someone is directing the steps you take.

Good enough van mode, amazing robot mode. I would have loved the toes to tilt, but it's a minor sacrifice. Incredible toy, MS. It may perfectly be your best.

 

Wow. And I thought the transformation for their Jazz was bananas. This is next level. Anyway, here is the comparison pics of all the Legends-scale Ironhides that I have that someone asked for earlier.

Rubber tires! That was a nice discovery. Also I like how all of the gray is molded plastic. The highlights and details are embedded in the red.

Also, what are the figures that aren't the Newage and MagicSquare figs? Is it possible to get bot height and alt mode length measurements for them?
