I have pre ordered this version.
I have to admit he is better than NAs version with the exception of paint and tail movement. That’s why I might go NA SG dinos and toon with MS.

Now with this said some people here are holding out on a painted version including metallic.
    MS painting versions are inconsistent.
Pretty sure they’ll do a version A so that would mean maybe his dino arms and tail would be silver and maybe a painted yellow/red with I assume a gold crown.
They recently did a fully painted Megatron, Ironhide and Bumblebee Bee. How are those holding out? Issues when transforming them? Where’s the fully painted Optimus? Metallic version are not many done either.
I would like a fully GOOD painted version too but I don’t want to deal with their inconsistencies.

Also, I’m ordering this version because knowing MS their re-issues are never truly re-issues. They always modify something. Look at Optimus, Jazz and Hound. So trying to get their actual toon version now before any changes are done.

i'm still holding out for metallic version of Prime V2. i guess MS is waiting again like v1 until the end of the line before releasing it, if at all. :(
yeah, i'm not hopeful MS will ever do a proper full metallic version of this. and i'd be nervous of the results/quality if they ever did.

I have the MS fully Painted Trailbreaker, Ironhide, and DX9 mini Doubledealer, and have transformed them back and forth 2 times, without any detectable paint wear on Trailbreaker and Doubledealer. On Ironhide, i did notice very small red paint chip on my hand, but cant locate from where to be honest, and cannot see actual wear on the figure. They did however miss paint from factory on one side of one piece of the figure, but i have had that happen with my NA sludge too. Would i go back and buy none painted, nope, they are super beautiful, and seem strong enough, and they have a very smooth surface, just like the NA figures...

But if i want to be worry free and just have fun, it seems like i am picking up the none-painted MS figures more often, and more relax about it. For these dinobots, as i have the NA fully painted toon, makes sense to get MS none painted version, but if i did not have the NA, i dont know... I do love my Combaticons and Mirage A / Shockwave A without paint though.

I want to hold out for the metallic, but... I'm wavering.

Also, a G2 Blue would be nice, as opposed to the Periwinkle bait and switch that New Age pulled.

The weird part is that so far, nobody has really attempted to do an OS KO of Magic Square figures except for the Pangu toy Primezilla. You'd think something would see these and think people would want MP scale versions.

I guess we sacrifice tail articulation for a really well designed knee. Is it worth it?

I felt like the translation wasn't clear enough (may not have said it at all, but I can't be certain). There is a transformation step that was missed, the front of the forearm folds forward (see below) then there is a dedicated rotation point for the forearm. Once instead of the robot mode elbow bending forward (like NA) it bends backward, which in tandem with the dedicated dino knee joint gives it a double joint.

Because they always release a matte version, then a metallic version? They've done this with almost every character. I'm looking forward to metallic & G2 versions of Grimlock, and have zero doubt MS will make them.

For me, definitely. The NA tail articulation is minimal, but you get a visually broken up tail in return. Having the ability to pose the dino knees correctly and with a wider range, gives more posing options than a slight tail waggle imo.

    Absolutely. Unquestionably so.

I had not been following NA's toy, but once the knee was mentioned I went looking, and it is unbearably horrible on their toy. MST getting that right is a big deal given the contrast.

Some people in China are speculating that the price will be similar to NA Grimlock, based on their conversation with sellers, when making their preorders.
