i thought Ultra Magnus would be as easy as folding the cab into a block then shoving it from the back. apparently it's not.

There's a a good bit of exposed white on top of the original MST UM's torso too, though. But I hear you about the rest.

Holy moly, it's even in the comic too! Feed Don.Fig to the Sharkticons, how dare he exposed the white on top of UM, lol.

*Thanks goodness for MP22 and Siege UM, they got the full red top like the toon, lol*

My interest has definitely decreased after that video. If I get it, I will most likely display him in alt mode.

I mean come on, ^ that's about perfect in my book.

that's beyond partsformer, more like a panelsformer.  looks like there's not a single solid piece that transforms. only thing this nets is an alt mode that scales to their prime. i get that some will dig that, but i'm out. :p

While it would have been nice if the legs were less partsforming, the only part that really bothers me after watching the video is the side hipskirts seems excessive being separate, which isn't enough to change my mind. I already have the White Light of Justice, and this looks too good to pass on at "half price" (please note the quotes, I know how inaccurate it is).

Thank you, I saw it entirely... but I think that armor it's more like a lego thing than a transformer. I mean, it's cool that the core is a white Prime, but... it doesn't seem a transformation, just pieces over pieces. I love MST figures but this time I will wait the NA version in video.

I think I'm in the same camp. I'm curious to see how much differently NA handles the trailer bits, and which of the two performs better as an actual car-carrying trailer.

I prefer their original Magnus by far. Money saved.

I want one of them because of the gimmick "optimus inside", but I already have Ultra Magnus 2.0 MFT and I think it's good in scale with MST and NA figures.

Hmm.. I accept the fact that the armor partforms (though it is a bit heavy on the parts side). But it looks like you need to disassemble a bit of the inner bot. That actually bothers me quite a bit. Feels a bit cheating for me. Oh well, I loves me some Ultra Magnus so I'm getting it regardless. I'm pretty sure the Newage UM will satisfy my quality engineering desire.

the one pet peeve i have with magnus armors from the past is having the leg armors only clip onto the outer part of the lower legs, leaving the inner part exposed. i love how ms decided to add a panel to the inner portion to make the lower leg armor a cohesive piece.

and i have no issues with his armor being a bunch of separate pieces, as it’s an armor after all. any time you have a white magnus underneath, you’re bound to have separate pieces for the shoulders, forearms, chest, lower legs, etc. even though i understand those of your complaints that these pieces are comprised of way smaller individual pieces for ms, id like to think that it’s still along the same lines of separate armor pieces, and if that’s what’s necessary to have a coherent um mode, then i’m all for it.

was about to preorder it but realized it’s expected mid 2021 or so... just going to wait it out and order closer to then, perhaps there’ll be more info between now and then in case anything sways my decision.

Dang, I m surprised about all the dislike of the partsforming. Y'all are just too new to collecting Transformers. This is how Magnus always was, Day 1. Now I get it if you like the Ambus Minimus story line but that is way to Power Rangers for my liking. I am glad he is scaling well with Prime and Motormaster.

One thing I would like to see is them do extra panels with battle damage so you can swap them out and maybe a busted helmet with different colored eyes so you can see half of Magnus's real head out from under it. If they don't include some panels and parts like that I may end up buying 2 so I can make one battle damaged.

Ultra Magnus was an Optimus Prime with extra clothes in the G1 cartoon?

We aren't new collecting... Everyone here knows how is the original toy and what's the story on the comic book... But is not the same storyline than the TV Show. Normally people wants the characters of the TV Show, fully transformable, not just an armor like the comicbook.

Not, he wasn't. No partsforming there :lol

Yup, that's what I was getting at.

Some people got into Transformers with the cartoon. For them, Ultra Magnus is one whole big guy, not a smaller guy wearing a big trenchcoat.

This is all true, but it was also pretty badass when white OP Magnus busted out of the Magnus armor back in the Dreamwave comics. I thought that was an awesome retcon(?) moment, and one that gave the character a whole new depth.

Completely agreed with you on both counts. I'm not a fan of the MAmbus myself. I will always prefer my UM to be a bot wearing or putting his armor trailer on as in Marvel Iron-Man, but not some small green dude piloting a life-less body like a Mech Suit/Power Ranger style.

As for extra panels with battle damage to swap out and expose some of the white Magnus robot cab body portions, I can see my Dreamwave day self want to come out scream, oh YESSSSessssssss!
