Yes, it is! I can disassemble easily to paint them with the airbrush... Anyway it's annoying.

I hate the forearms. It's like they don't account for the flaps on the back of LoJ's forearms at all. They're hard to put on and damn near impossible to remove.

Also there are parts that I believe are nylon. The front and inner side of the lower legs. I was working on my custom yesterday and the plastic there behaved differently when I cut it and I did a little bit of slopping pain on and wiping it away for the cut areas I'd added and the paint didn't wipe away nearly as cleanly on those parts.

Speaking of, I should hopefully have a custom to show off soon. Did the damage to the armor and I added a dark metallic to the ripped areas. Just have to paint the head and add some scorch marks around all the damage. I'm debating on WLoJ, though: it'd make more sense for him to have scorch marks as well. I mean what are the odds that Magnus would take heavy damage to his armor, ripping away huge chunks, and have a perfectly pristine white robot underneath? But part of me still wants to be able to remove the armor if I ever feel like it and have an unmodified WLoJ. At the same time, part of me is like I never would've gotten WLoJ if I wasn't doing this custom so the figure means nothing to me on its own and I should just do what gives me the best looking final custom damaged Magnus. I dunno.

 

I feel the same in some way. The problem with Ultra Magnus is that is impossible to fit the whole "trailer" transformable in the same figure. If you can make the miracle that MST made with the V1, it lets you a very small truck. Something must be sacrificed if you want the trailer in the same figure. The scale sometimes is nothing important (look the small Train and Space Shuttle of MFT Astrotrain, or MFT Octane and Blitzwing, and a large etcetera). They wanted to put an Armor, ok, I can understand it, but damn... Too many pieces left... I really like the scale of the truck form but I prefer something like MFT V2 or something with a detachable trailer.

Man the yellowing on your figure is bad   but yeah, an airbrush can fix it, but still...
The gun is way too big, I agree, I'm going to give him Magnus v1 his gun. The restricted hip articulation is my biggest gripe. That said I really like his bulky appearance and his headsculpt, he's great for display. The alt mode is awesome, love it.
But yeah, this isn't the figure for everyone, glad there's options for y'all  

 

Vallejo has a metallic medium product. You can convert every Vallejo paint in metallic if you want. It's VERY useful. I painted lots of things using a regular color mixed with the metallic medium (in the correct proportion).

For white Prime cab, I don't want to have the red bumper metallic, makes it pop even more, but the silver will be shiny.

 

Finished for now. I'm gonna do the dirtying up using oil paints and will need to give them a couple weeks to fully dry so I wanted to get a few pics now before doing so. My color match wasn't as good as I'd hoped - the blue is too dark and the white too bright - but I think that'll become much less obvious once everything is properly dirtied up. It's hard to tell but his eye is a metallic red - it's just kinda deep in his head and pretty heavily shadowed so it gets kinda lost in there. He's borrowing MFT's gun for the pics cuz his cannon just looks ridiculous in pictures. Speaking of MFT:

[Edit] Forgot to say, it should still be mostly able to transform. Iirc, the forearm attaches to the should pad in truck mode so that'll be a problem but otherwise, all the pegs and hinges should still be intact.

Funny thing is the articulation is slightly improved on his left leg due to part of the hip skirt and thigh cover being cut away  

Thanks everyone! I had a lot of fun on this (and a lot of frustration getting the different parts of the head to combine properly in Blender  ) and I'm glad you all like it. Gonna be adding the dirt and scorching and then I should have more pics in a week or so (decided that WLoJ needs the dirt too).

By the by, I have a few projects at various stages of completion and I'm planning on starting an Etsy store once more of them are done. Would Magnus' head be something anybody would be interested in purchasing? I'd have options for fully painted, unpainted, and .stl download. I just don't know if there'd be much demand since it'd be sitting on an unmodified Magnus for anybody who bought one.
