For better or worse, I can say I will never transform this painted one. As long as it can hold up to posing, and my hands aren't covered in paint flakes, I'll be happy. I have plenty of other options if I ever feel compelled to display Prime in vehicle mode.

I'd also like to be able to ignore (or unignore) threads without ignoring/unignoring the first poster.

Yup, same. He'll be guarding my MS collection in cool poses, but he won't be doing it in alt mode :D
Now MS please release MP Megs (EX from the get go) and straight back to legends after that.

Sad that this is the first thread I’ve ever had to invoke the ignore on.

Oh yes, this Prime I'm not transforming, beside hating the circle headlights, I have other Primes that I like in truck mode more.

I just took the plunge on the regular MS-02. I figured the all plastic (cheap) look will fit right in for the cartoon aesthetic. Plus, I like transforming mine and don't like worrying about paint chipping.
I still may get the painted one if I enjoy the mold....or maybe the Pangu OS one, who knows?

I emailed Magic Square and asked if they were planning on doing new runs of the black and white releases with the die cast and paint. They said no so I asked if they’d do an upgrade kit and they said they’ll pass the idea to their design team to see if a die cast kit would be feasible.

do we know if this version will have improved plastics used? i recall some people saying the magnus and nemesis versions had better materials that arent the usual ms plastics and im hoping this will have that as well as the added diecast, thats my only main concern holding me back from fully going in because i dont want a smokestack or anything to break lmao

I did wonder if that might be an area where they used diecast, though I've only seen it mentioned as joints and seen what looks like metal in the feet.

same which is why im slightly concerned if theyre not even gonna do it in problematic areas like the smokestacks or obvious places like the gas canister things on the sides of his legs or his grill so i can only hope they use it smartly

It should be assumed that the EX version will use the same plastic in nemesis and ultra magnus, have the same tight tolerances and finish overall. The X-factor is how well it’s painted and if the diecast parts will negatively affect the figure in any way.

Smokestacks breaking were a pretty common thing in that first release, so I'd be surprised if those aren't metal if they're not at least a more durable plastic.

i might be missing something and stupid but j to clarify the nemesis and magnus releases did use different better plastics than the original right

Magic Square is not known for it's wonderful plastic, so I'd keep expectations semi-low

From the new pictures, the shoulder joint looks to be the same soft plastic because the grooves are collapsed like the original run.
