MS needs to join the MP ranks on a permanent basis. If this Devastator were MP scale, MS would be a serious challenger to Zeta.

 

As a legends collector I selfishly say I hope not. It will slow production

MS should try both scales, it more money for them. The more money MS makes, the more new and different products in theory should be released.

My first thought exactly.

I guess the success of zeta toys with their superion and their bruticus (the definitive version of a lot of master piece collectors) showed magic square it was the way to go.
I prefer the challenge of no parts forming too (I loved how the chess plate of hulkie was the crane split in two) but to be honnest but this does look good in combine form.

I may also in a the minority here but I love the mixmaster toes. Always a plus when the limb is a little more transformed than just the alt mode laying there or being a little bend (I am looking at you menasor limb) Especially if it increases the stability.

I like everything except the Mix Master toes. I don't hate them, but I don't like it either. Obviously they fold away for other modes so I was thinking maybe they could just not be folded out, but looking at the design it looks like they might balance his foot with the cab wheels so it might be leaning forward without the toes (maybe I'm wrong).

Comparing combined mode to one individual member is a silly thing to do, but this is a forum so of course I'll do it anyway. I am not impressed with what was shown of NA Scavenger. It is obviously extremely articulated, but I've never considered that worth it if it makes the figure look terrible to get the articulation in.

EDIT: Cheem posted just as I finished my post. Loving what I see of Mixmaster, and swap out drums is a good move. Options are good. Looks much better than NA Scavenger.

 

That’s damn impressive. I especially like the option of toe or no toe.

 

Mixmaster's bot mode is sweet and awesome to see a prototype. Hopefully it's closer to 1 year away than 3 years..

 

Doing both scale does not necessarily means more money, it can sometimes lead to less.
They did try both with optimus and if they stopped after that there must be a reason (financial or legal). It's like movies, if it is a financial and critical success, there will be a sequel.

this bot is well past the proto stage and into full on final production. i am digging everything about this mix master. bring on the rest and hopefully MS can start cranking these out by mid summer or fall at the latest.

 

Wow, he looks great, and really detailed. The compressing/extending drum is a really clever way to achieve the shifting proportions in the different modes.

...Shame about the fake pants in combined mode.   I really prefer Devastator to be as fully integrated as possible. He's made of six bots, for crying out loud! They couldn't get a pair of thighs out of Long Haul??

I wasn't expecting they were this far down the production stages. Offcourse we knew MS was hinting a Devastator a long time ago, but it went completely radio silent.

The material seems to be the good old nylon plastic, which I love and I also like the colors!

Head sculpt looks amazing aswell
