Agreed. I have no dog in this fight - just get whatever company and combiner you prefer. I think both look good, but I personally picked NA G2 Devy for his proportions, finish, and size compared to other legends combiners. But I also own MS Menasor, IF Ruination and Zeta Superion.

And it’s kind of silly to argue the trailer is part of Motormaster and not a partsformer. Like you said, if it was truly part of him, it would incorporate into his bot like G1 or Fanstoys (whose combiner is a whole different issue …). In the same exact vein, I doubt anyone in a first party thread would argue legacy Motormaster isn’t a partsformer.

 

Got me there, I forgot about the tapes! But just for semantics' sake I'll correct it for myself too:

If I remember correctly, Laserbeak was packaged with Soundblaster, while the Autoscout and blue Frumble were with Soundwave, and at least one or both of those were first run exclusive.

That said, we're 2 for 2 on the combiners including alternate pieces regardless of run, so I still do think it's safe to say Bruticus will have both options readily available.

 

I think it was metallic paint soundwave that had lazerbeak only for early buyers, but I definitely had a Soundwave that came with lazerbeak that was supposed to be hard to find.

 

Can you do full toon but with the blue thighs? That's how I'm leaning.

That solves almost all of the issues I had with the toon reveal, but it seems nothing was done to fix Swindle at all (Brawl's lack of change isn't a significant issue for me).

 

that's not completely correct. laserbeak was included with sounblaster, and it was only limited with the metallic version of soundwave in the first batch released. those were the only two ways of getting laserbeak.

 

Oh I don't know. I just remembered reading at the time that it was supposed to be a pre-order bonus. I didn't follow any of the reissues.

I would guess that they meant it at the time but changed their minds later when it came time for the reissues. But that's just a guess. I suppose we'll see what they say about Bruticus but it doesn't matter much to me - I pre-ordered all of them anyway.

I actually had two Laserbeaks for a while. I was a sucker and bought Soundblaster just to get Laserbeak. Then I bought the metallic version because I vastly preferred its look over the regular blue Soundwave. Later I sold the regular Soundwave and I'm pretty sure I included my extra Laserbeak with it but I kept the other tapes. I'd kinda forgotten all of this but now that I'm reminded, I'm pissed off about the bundling again. Only way to get a full set of tapes was to buy two of the Soundwave mold.

 

If the toon configuration will end up looking anything like the digi on the left, I'm gonna be so happy.

 

hope they’re separate, toon torso is grey like you have it, while toy is the blue.

Could you (or anyone) shop the toon legs onto the toy version?

It's funny really, I never had the Bruticus toy back then, I only knew him from the tv episodes so the toon version seems the normal one to me. But toy version has grown on me and it actually makes more sense since onslaught is also blue not grey.
I want g1 accuracy but I'm not a fan of following the tv series errors. I wouldn't care less if they didn't support toon version at all and will probably pose him in toy version. As for the Blast Off chest, I'd like it only if it was actually a part of his alt mode. The less extra combiner parts, the better for me.

Can't wait to see how the upper body comes together and see if we get grey or blue or both. Definitely not using the grey thighs with the random wheel on one leg.
