i think i’m just going to give up mixing and matching and just stick to my toon set. how much is a full idw set going for anyway? opened and combined once to compare, but new otherwise.

So I checked the two different gritted ones that I have, both yellow.

    IMG_6873.JPG

The top one is difficult to read but its numbers are 203050. It is the finer grit. Looking at amazon it's likely this 240 grit version since there appears to be only two different yellow buffers and the other is 220. Amazon.com

The other, 203014 is the slightly coarser 220 grit. Both work great.

Ok awesome, thanks for checking. I’m going to go to Sally’s today while I’m running errands, hopefully they have at least one of those two!

FYI, there are coarser ones, purple or pink IIRC. Maybe both. I don't recommend it/them. Too rough.

oh man i totally missed this post until now. i have a variety or random things to work on bots. but i absolutely lose these little 4 sided nail buffs. they cover damn near any and every finish i would ever need on a fix. they work especially well on MS bots because you can still achieve a nice matte finish if you want. that or you could buff the part out to a super crystal clear shine if need be.

    20231229_163306.jpg

i used them to knock down the factory blimish that is at the bottom of s-dubs waist. if i didn't point it out you would never be able to tell anything was ever done.

I ended up getting the blocks with 23014 as the number, the label only said “ultra fine grit” and not the grit number.

Here’s Hound’s leg before, it’s hard to capture on photo how bad it is in person (it’s the lower leg):
    IMG_5262.jpeg

    Here’s how it is after:
    IMG_5265.jpeg

While not perfect it is still waay better, and the part I couldn’t fully remove on the lower portion isn’t shiny and eye-catching like it was. I might try to hit it more, but I’ve already sanded the heck out of it to get it to where it is, that lower spot might not be fully removable.

It’s a massive improvement and salvaged my toon hound for me, I couldn’t stand it because it was so noticeable and shiny whenever light was on it.

Huge thanks, I’ll start going over other spots and other figs now too.

I had that problem too. I actually had two identical old glossy parts. I sanded one of them to show you the difference but no matter what I did I could not capture the difference in finish on film. Glad that it (mostly) worked out for you.

Total, after shipping is right around $265.00 from the official website - new. Although some people inexplicably pay well over $300 on places like eBay.

    That's called used. :D

Vortex and Blast-Off (toy deco for both) were the first two times I went with Show.z after being a longstanding Chosen Prime shopper and I'm glad I did. Not only was the mark up on these last two figures insane compared to the Show.Z prices, but it's frankly astonishing that they still don't have either one in stock or even marked as "arriving soon." Not sure if that's TCP's fault, MS's fault, or somewhere in between but toon Vortex came out over two months ago, ffs.

Finally got around to detailing my Bruticus.. he was so lifeless. Most of it is gunmetal (the photos look flat grey but they shine when the light hits them at angles) with a few embellishments. So much better now! Now I need to do the same to my OmegaSupreme EX.

Happy New Year! Would anyone be so kind as to take a couple of pics of the IDW shield from the top and the bottom? Thanks!
