So I finally nabbed a sealed Machine wars Soundwave. I did open it and put the stickers on and such and was like wait, where the hell are those missiles on the side like in the pic?

So what happened? The pegs are there on the sides and in his hands and the box pics show them and a gun. Im kind of pissed because he has no gun and looks odd.

    Was this idea dropped?

Yes the gun and missles were left out, chalk it up to the US laws, the gun was considered a hazard. G1 Stalker, who MW Soundwave is based on, has a gun that can shoot those missles about a good two feet with some force.

Yup, they were dropped. More than likely due to not passing safety.

I actually really like the machine Wars line. I picked up the entire line MISB off of Ebay a few years ago. The line is great way to get once European exclusive molds in nicer colors.

The Machine Wars toys weren't any worse than the stuff we got in Armada or Energon.

Machine Wars a store exclusive series comprised entirely of repaints and only exists because some Hasbro employee couldn't shut his face.

I actually quite like the Machine Wars molds in their original form, and feel it's great they got a slightly wider release in the US.

FYI, the line only exists because Beast Wars was a success and Hasbro decided to try the waters with getting "traditional" vehicle Transformers back out there. They just didn't want to sink too much money into R&D costs so we instead got some molds planned for G2 but never released and some cool late G1 molds. The fact it didn't succeed was probably due to a number of factors - the fact they ended up as KB Toys exclusives really just shows that at the time retailers didn't want to sell cars and trucks that turned into robots.

Don't hate on the line. It was great for what it was.

And yes, the launchers were gutted from all the bigger figures for safety reasons. If you've ever messed about with a Predator or a Turbomaster you'll know why.

I bought the whole set in a KayBee oulet store back in 97. They were the first vehicles I bought since G1.

I don't see anything wrong with Machine Wars. Plus, MW Starscream looks evil as HELL.

For an insane guy, you sure know what's up-- that repaint is awesome. Very fun little bot, shame about the climbing prices.

I really dig all of the MW repaints that were in Universe. They were some of my favorites from that line.

Yeah even machine wars starscream has different art pics than the actual boxed inner toy represent. the actual MW Starscream toy has a different colored robot flip down chest color.

    Machine Wars needs more love.

I totally agree with Draven that Starscream is totally evil-looking and totally awesome. The eight (8) cars/trucks/planes we got were cool as well (they have their faults, sure).

Sandstorm is really cool, and I always thought that Soundwave was a neat-o, futuristic version :) )). I always thought that Prime made for a cool, sort-of Orion Pax.

From a collecting standpoint, it's so brief of a line to collect that it can be very fun to track down and such. :)

i've always liked the MW toy line, i have all of the boxed ones, but not many of the carded ones, *though i do have the molds, just in repaint forms*

but even if it was a line comprised of entirely repaints, much like TF universe was, it was still VERY amazing, to me. even if the features and gimmicks were gutted, they are still pretty cool.

and i still prefer playing with machine wars soundwave over g1.

and even as a kid, i did too. the tape deck just doesn't really have a lot of play value, as a missile/satellite truck does.

at the time, my only problem with it was the lack of g1ish colors, but thankfully, hasbro fixed that.

though it would of been nice to see a tfu repaint of starscream, in g1 colors.

    :)

g2 had a bunch of amazing molds, i love them all. g2 is when they went from bricks, to possible little fun toys.

sure machine wars g2 molds were all bricks, but they were fun little bricks, and an important part of transformer's history.

after all, the BALL joint was first introduced in transformers during g2, after all :)

MW Starscream also has the curious honor of being homaged by Transtech Starscream.
