They are one in the same. Both ran by the Infamous Keith.
What I mean the hype around it is lost after all the seekers get released and they take a while. Bad argument.

Does Mad Catz still make controllers?

I remember my SNES controller outlasted the official.

Only if they're releasing figures that HasTak are planning, and with their Headmasters, Targetmasters and Powermasters, they had the only skin in the game for a while... and still do for some lines. It seems crazy that they wouldn't exploit that more. I know some people have said that sales of their first two Headmasters and their only Targetmaster weren't great, but I think a lot of people want assurances that teams can be completed, then they'd jump on them. I know I'm in for the lot, but I'd like them to get their finger out.

As far as other MIA 3P companies:
Ace Toys... I know their Cliffjumper and Hubcap weren't well received, and with good reason, but their Seaspray looked to be a real step up, and I was looking forward to that figure.

Matrix Prime Toys... That VW camper 'bot/re-imagined Ironhide tickled my fancy, but never made it past the prototype stage. Did they actually produce anything at all?

GCI Toys... William lied and f*@ked a lot of people over. I'd like to phrase it more delicately, but I'm one of those that got f*@ked, and am still sore about it.

Transformmission... I know they're linked to Generation Toy via Warbotron in some way, but it's been nearly two years since their last release, and we've not heard a peep. Is that it? I certainly hope not... I was hoping they'd do a Superion next.

Hero Hobby... they did that tiny Grimlock and tiny UM figures. Can't say I'd want more than the Grimlock (Tiny Rex) but does anyone know if they did anything else?

Read my replies on the following page. There's links to more details further down as well, but don't bother with the FB link, as the GCI page has gone.

Who was ‘William’? The guy who started CGI, or some factory runner?

I know with me, the smallest operation I go with is FT or MT ...

Why the two companies anyway? What's the business reason for it?

Maybe they spent money producing the recolors but didn't sell as many as they thought, thus throwing a spanner into everything else they are working on.

I wouldn't say kill/ burnout the company but burnout the consumer. Here's how i look at it is this:

    3 seekers:
the main boys starscream, thundercracker, and skywarp

    and the 3 retools:
cone heads ramjet, thrust, and dirge.
    They each cost $180 dollars

want them all at? approximately $1,080 give or take

now maketoys (or whoever decides to make them) releases their set of mp seekers/cone heads.

With maketoys they each cost $120 and if you want the 6 its gonna be $720 give or take.

The problem with this is some people feel like they have their money tied up into the takara/hasbro versions that they're hesitant about making the switch, especially if you want all 6. It's a hard choice for some due to how good the actual mold is. It's not perfect, but it can do way more then the mp-3/11 mold can in robot mode (especially when the damn torso can't tab in proper). Spending almost upwards to $1,000 again feels like such a kick in the groin to some that they don't know if its worth the swap. Could you make the money back by selling the takara/hasbro? Yes, most likely, but that's up to you having to go out of the way of doing so. I can see and understand both sides of the argument but this is how i personally viewed it.

Crowd funding on the other hand...

I don't like it, especially when it's done by companies.

You're telling me you didn't manage to make profit with your previous products and you wouldn't be able to do this otherwise? Also aren't you just repainting a MOLD that you already have ready yellow? Are you gonna end up doing crowdfunding for the other 2 colors later down the line of the MOLD you already have ready?

Something about this just doesn't sit right with me.

    just my 2 cents.

it's a shame about GCreation. They really did have the best render for Drift. I'm more bummed about DX9 and their slow-ass Stunticons and Maketoys, who haven't made a headmaster or targetmaster in forever.

You're asking me a question I don't know the answer too. The Keith works in mysterious ways.
Speaking of which, I need to go grab his Magnus set.
