I’m glad to see the Lunar series hasn’t been forgotten. Reading how many people state in the comments they started weeping when they heard the song in the trailer shows the impact these games had. Never played the first game (The Silver Star) and I’ve heard it’s the better of the two. I own Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete for my PS1 (with omake box ) and while I did enjoy it, I never finished it. My main concern is censorship. Lunar 2’s anime cutscenes get pretty close to full-on nudity, and a number of recent rereleases/remasters have censored/removed content that might be deemed “offensive” (by overly-sensitive dickwads who don’t play games in the first place)…for example, removal of Miranda’s gratuitous butt shots in the Mass Effect remasters, or removal of background elements in Capcom’s fighting game rereleases. I’m hoping these will be untouched.
These are games I wanted in modern ports for a very long time, even if I don't really have the time for JRPG's anymore. I used to have the boxed 1st Lunar game for Playstation, but sold it years ago when finances were desperate.
Because I don't care about those games. I'm asking if they are doing a physical collection or if I'm going to have to wait for Limited Run to do one. I won't buy a video game I can not physically own.
Since we're obviously not going to get a answer to the physical edition question anytime soon, let's remember the good times.
While it hasn’t been said who is helping with the physical edition for switch, the publisher did confirm physical versions are coming. Since they have worked with limited run games before, it is suspected that the physical is going to be through them. However with that said, I would not be surprised if this gets released through limited run, and other places such as play-Asia. Either way I will definitely be picking up a copy. I’ve never played these before, and I’ve been hoping too now that switch will be getting physicals.
I never got to play them either, but my PSM magazine always talked about them. In fact, I just saw Lunar 2 at a local secondhand shop, but they wanted $180 for it.
I wonder if they'll be as pack with physical goodies as the boxed Playstation ones, maybe even reproducing what came with those versions.
That would be nice, but realistically it would probably be some more expensive special edition release. But, seriously, Working Designs did such a great job with these. Physically owning Lucia’s pendant from the game is super awesome. Got this set used, but I also have Arc the Lad Collection, which I bought new. I hate to be a buzzkill, but I heard that original singer Jennifer Stigile will have no involvement in these remasters, so her vocals will be re-recorded I hope I’m wrong. Edit: Oops, hold on… You said LUNA, not LUCIA. I always get the two mixed up, and I believe Stigile only worked on the second game. So if that’s the case…I don’t know
