Wow, these look good

 

It’s interesting to see this (very understanding) morality question when reflecting on the thread for the Voltron that this same company made. Which had little to no discussion on the creator of that original design and people have been purchasing that figure to the point of it having a second reissue.

 

Man, I skimmed through the War Within comics last night, and these are close if not spot on to his designs.
I am trying to resist the urge of picking these up, as I already have 4 versions of Devy, the Maketoys, Toy and G2 NA, and MS Toon, but I feel I will eventually break and pick these guys up, they look to fun and well built, not to mention War Within designs are pretty cool imo.

 

Dammit, I was trying to stay disinterested, but now I’m all in. As a huge War Within and Iron Factory fan I can’t resist these anymore…

This video shows that for Scavenger's alt mode, the purple rear tracks don't sit flush and tight, as the design was modified by adding 2 tabs to support the bot mode transformation.




But the video shows that you can cut those 2 tabs off and have the purple tracks tab in and sit tight and flush with the front tracks. And it looks closer to the original design as well.





The drawback to this is that the bot mode legs are slightly affected as the panel on the side can be accidently pushed in, as the tabs that were cut off were meant to be preventing that:



So up to you which you prefer. Bot or alt.

 

Yeah, I think I need these guys. They look really fun, and I've always liked the War Within designs. Kind of surprised the 3Ps haven't used the designs before.

I couldn’t resist and ended up ordering the whole set.   The WW designs are really intriguing and Devastator looks great. I don’t mind the differing track levels on Scavenger either. The vehicle mode already looks abstract enough that I think it doesn’t look too bad.

I don’t expect it but I think a white and red SG repaint would look fantastic for this set as well. I think I’d like that better than a repaint of the G1 sets.

 

It's not the look that bothers me, it's the fact that the tracks don't secure to anything and can be moved about. Unless they find a way to lock it in place.

If not, I personally would do the fix cos when I see a tab and a slot, I am compelled to put that tab into that slot.

And cue Freudian slip jokes in 3, 2, 1...

 

I’m curious if this is a one off thing or if they may make other combiners if this does well.

 

Still waiting for a single picture or video of this guy next to IF War Giant.

 

That and a pic of the individual bots among Iron Factory figures.

One of these Mixmasters is not like the others. Treads for arms, I am not recognizing it. What set is he from?
