Wow I'm glad to hear it was caught in time! Eerily this was the first thing that popped into my head upon reading this thread:
Ouch man. Ouch. Glad you got it taken care of quickly, and before it spread. Makes me think, I haven't been t a doctor other than for glasses in years... when my wife's new benefits kick in it's time to go ASAP. Cancer and heart disease both run in the family...
Not quite a story, but while funny it was a very painful one Simply put: I hit in the nuts with a basketball, ALOT, during gym class. And it fucking sucked.
Lortabs are my best friends right now. It's weird, I have still feel where my testicle was and it itches sometimes, but there is nothing to itch. Ghost Balls, lol.
I know what you may be going through, smkspy - I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in May 2010, but it was the right one in my case.. Had the op to remove the tumour, two lovely (sarcasm) cycles of chemotherapy, and am going for checks every 3 months.. Glad they caught yours in good time! Mind you, good job it didn't get to the size my tumour was.. *shudders* UJ
Nice to hear more kindred souls telling their story. Did you get a prosthetic? If so, when? I want one, but decided to wait until after I might have radiation. Fucking sore as shit today and it's only getting worse. Itching like crazy too, but gotta wait the 48 hours before I can shower.
I decided against a prosthetic actually; after feeling so crap after the orchidectomy, I thought I sure as he'll wasn't gonna go through that again!! If they caught yours in time, and if the cancer didn't invade any of the surrounding blood vessels, you may get lucky n not need radiotherapy - they may opt for giving you a couple of rounds of chemotherapy instead...
Yeah, the orchidectomy is really starting to hit: Extreme soreness from the incision, Ghost itches, and fatigue yet can only sleep for about three hours at a time.
That's too bad. I had a bone marrow transplant 10 years ago. This isn't shit you play with. Hopefully the soreness goes away soon. Oxycodone will be your best friend for a while.
Luckily, the soreness should pass in a few days / a week.. The worst thing was the fatigue bit which was a bugger to get through, especially during chemo; I found the best way to combat fatigue was to do something, but that may not necessarily work for you.. Sorry I ain't much more help..
I'm typing with only my right hands now. I'm not taking things to chances sorry to hear that buddy, but just as glad you had detected it earlier. My fear towards cancer started since reading about it when I was 14. Still, didn't get to play it much back then. Tf prioritized more than balls, most definitely..
