I think there is some potential for a quality movie to be made out of this premise. I could see it being a fun family-friendly adventure film.
I actually really liked the last film version, but I feel that the Lost in Space concept lends itself better to a television series than to a film.
While TV has more time for character development I'm just not sure how Lost in Space would work in the current TV era. The show was all fun and goofy but TV wants to take too many things too seriously these days. I'll give the show a chance because my goodness there aren't nearly enough show set in space right now and we might even get a hot space mom out of it all. But I do have some misgiving because some TV reboots have been good while other TV reboots haven't pleased too many people. And yea I catch the reruns on MeTV because I'm old enough to go hey hot space mom.
Aside from the "glarp" or whatever it was, I actually liked the '90s movie. Coincidentally, I had a chance to meet the original "Penny" a few weeks ago on a talk show I do volunteer work for. They've had Bill Mummy on a previous episode, and she mentioned she's like to come back with him to do another interview.
