    Or maybe they just took the easiest route and made just one mold instead of two to accommodate the already planned Takara toy.

    Decepticons have the pin on the left side, and the Hasbro rep said each faction would unlock diff sounds on Grimlock, so you're probably right.

    I thought about that, but in that case, they could have just as easily (and maybe more cheaply) plugged the hole with plastic rather than metal. Or just left the hole empty.

    But yeah, I didn't think about the Grimlock thing. Still, you never know.

    It seems unlikely that this will get an American release considering the majority of "special" Takara Optimus Prime figures never get released. Sure we got Jet Powered Prime but it was a retailer exclusive and we still never saw the others.

    How about that Year of the Whatever MP-10 we just got? Or do you just mean new molds? I wouldn't be surprised if TRU -- the chain dumb enough to pick up that ugmo DotM Ultimate Optimus (and yes, I know that was Hasbro) -- also went for this.

    I should say movie molds. I think the Masterpiece Prime is a pretty no brainer. Hasbro seems to want to pimp that shit out whenever they have an opportunity.

    Lost Age Prime modified

    I got my Lost Age Prime about a week ago and decided to take it apart to see if I can separate the figure from the back pack and leg-truck attachments. It turns out I can actually remove the parts such that I can re-assemble the truck without the figure. Then I painted the figure.

    I'm getting this so I can have a perfect scale Optimus and something to put on Leader Grimlock's back.

    If anyone has this and a Leader Class Grimlock, can you try and put Optimus on Grimlock's back and take a picture?

    Beautiful and hysterical.

    I went ahead and kept my preorder because I was hoping I'd be able to remove the kibble and have a decent voyager sized bot. This looks to be even better news!
