The Next 'Transformers' Movie Won't Be a Reboot, But It Will Be "Different" [Exclusive]
He knows they can never call it a reboot without implicitly admitting the last 3 bayformer movies were horrible.
Call it whatever you want, we know Bumblebee is a reboot, as a long as it continues from that, thats all I need. Lets just keep someone like Travis Knight in charge who actually understands the franchise please.
Interesting thing to note, he also hints at an ensemble Transformers film coming next. Not sure if it's intentional.
"Reboot, I always hate that word because for one, I’m not sure I really understand what it means". My favorite quote from the article.
'Bumblebee' Producer Teases Future Plan for 'Transformers' Franchise
Well, it seems we won't see any Bayhem again judging from Lorenzo words here.
We're not calling it a reboot, but it's a reboot
Come on now,Di Bonaventura. Man up and call it what it is. I promise nobody will judge you, well, not much
He also says he doesn't know what "reboot" means, and that he hates the word.
Thanks, Lorenzo, for proving once again that no one should listen to anything you say.
I know I’ve shown this many times on the boards. It’s kinda funny how the voice actor for Shockwave and Soundwave says it’s a preboot while Lorenzo says it’s something new but not a reboot...
It’s a miracle that Bumblebee was even a good film knowing his dumbass is still on the job
Just do a time travel movie and do things properly in the new timeline.
This guy just keeps reminding me of Jon Peters, only without the crack-induced hyperactivity.
Already posted this. Mods please fix!
That's not even necessary as Bumblebee retcons bunch of the garbage out anyways. Just start from where Bumblebee left off, treat it as a reboot, and boom, that's all they need to do.
Big things coming from Paramount & Hasbro after reception of Bumblebee and predicted box office numbers vs. expenditures. Stay tuned. It is a good time to be a Transformers fan. Also, Lorenzo will probably not be going anywhere anytime soon (at least as of now).
"Reboot, I always hate that word because for one, I’m not sure I really understand what it means,” Di Bonaventura said. “We are going to do another big Transformers movie. It is going to be different than the ones that we’ve done before."
That's more or less what a reboot IS, genius! Mother flyin' fuuuu...... How on Earth does this guy keep getting work?! And everyone thought Don Murphy was the problem because he was a blow hard, but this guy really walks into walls... With other people's money!
And if you're going to do it differently, first, yay! and second, please don't bring back Bayhem. We've had enough. We got it. 11 years to get ONE out of SIX right. Eleven. That has to be a record.
So, I'm guessing the Optimus Prime movie will explain how this deviates from the rest of the film universe, so far. I'm guessing they'll copy X-Men: Days Of Future Past and Star Trek and make it an alternate time line so fans don't have to be angry that it's pissed all over their beloved/what's come before and they can coexist without stepping on any toes.
I just hope they hire someone competent to write, direct and produce it. And if Lorenzo does know what he's talking about and knows what a reboot is, he comes across as salty because then his words (here: “It’s not like we look at the elements of what we did before and go, ‘Well, let’s not do this’ or ‘Let’s not do that,’” “It’s more about how do you evolve the experience for the fans. Let the fan have a new experience.”) can be taken as "Nuh uh. You're not going to tell me all my past work was worthless. Nope! Neener, neener!"
And this gem:
“When we did the first movie, at first there was a lot of pushback that we weren’t doing it the way it was done before," he added. “My feeling was always that if we’d done it, you would’ve gone, ‘Well, I’ve already seen it.’ So how do you evolve things forward is I think the hardest thing because you’ve got to retain why people love it, but at the same time if you give them the same experience, they’re going to be bored with it.”
THEY DID GET BORED WITH IT, YOU DIMWIT! That's precisely why this movie exists! Can Hasbro PLEASE get someone better suited for this? Seriously.
If it wasn't for the fact the TF films made shitloads of money initially, I doubt this jackass would even still be around. He seems to just have no respect for the franchise given how he never gives answers about actual film material. Anybody remember how Quintessa was supposedly originally a human six million years ago before humans even existed?
Forget lack of respect for the franchise, the guy's got no respect for storytelling in general.
Lorenzo is such a dumbass parasite. He invests so much of himself into something he was never wanted in. It's like you can't get rid of him no matter how hard you try
Separate names with a comma.
