Anyway to tell if these are real or KO? I got them cheaply about 33 for both. Seller said box was crushed and they have not been transformed before. But how to tell if they are real or KO? Please help. Thanks.
I'm almost certain that Dirge is a KO. Dirge - Generations Classics 3.0 - TFW2005 This is TFW's resource page whicn lists recolours/reuses for the mould, but there isn't a clear one. Chances are if the Dirge is a KO the Thundercracker is too.
Thundercracker has the deco of the Henkei! release, but there is a knock-off of it. Here's a comparison guide so you can check: Comparison review between Henkei Thundercracker and the KO. - Transformers As for the other, I'm pretty sure there's never been an official release of a translucent Dirge, so that one is almost certainly a knock-off.
Thanks guys, seems like it is confirmed that they more or less KO. Oh well, then for 2 are they worth the $30usd I paid for?
Well, looking on eBay, a loose KO Henkei! Thundercracker sold for $10 in April, whilst a sealed 'Ghost Dirge' sold for $25 in May, so you've probably not too hard off.
If the plastic quality is good, then I'd say so. You basically paid retail for them. Hard to find Classics seekers at retail these days, at least as far as I've seen.
I have that Dirge, its definitely a knock off. I have all of the Coneheads as well as Thundercracker and Skywarp in translucent form. Very fragile but make for awesome display pieces with other classics seekers.
Yeah, I have purchased a bunch of KO seekers over the last few years, and they've all been really perfect. It all started with the overinflated prices on the secondary market for a legit Skywarp and blossomed into getting a trio of purple clones and a really beautiful and spot-on Sunstorm. I highly recommend getting them if you need holes filled in your seeker army.
Yeah, I bought them for the intention of displaying and playing around with them since they are in lose form. Now it kinda motivated me to hunt for all the Translucent ones. Things I need to collect seems to be ever expanding. Thanks, glad that I was not ripped off by the seller. Fair enough And I notice the Translucent Dirge is better bulit compare to the Thunder cracker.
Yep CHMS Clear Dirge. (Possible gap in the market for some translucent stickers for his wings and logos I'd say. You have to be super careful with Clear plastic but the quality is decent otherwise. The easiest way to tell a CHMS KO is the little cut outs in the knees and shoulders are in different places I have loads of them and the only ones you have to be super careful with is the clear ones - if the elbows stick don't force them or they may snap at the hinge. I always 'Operate' on them if I think they are to tight.
Henkei Thundercracker (and to a lesser extent Starscream) did have notoriously poor quality control. I highly doubt it's legit, but I thought I'd mention it.
I checked, it is indeed bad. One of the upperthigh have gap visible in the middle of it (front facing). But the slot compared to the link given to tell difference between knock off seems to show the Thundercracker is Henkei's one. Maybe later I take some pics and post them here. Anyway I have been wondering what Henkei means?
It's Takara's subline, more or less equivalent to Hasbro's Classics (with various differences, of course).
