To be fair we don't know all of the details yet. It very well could be Lockdown's ship or a new ship that crashes in the present day.

Eh, even I was ready for something new this time. Ah well, I'll see how this one turns out. Hope it's more 1 and 3 than 2 or 4, though I did enjoy a fair number of the elements in the latter two as well.

Surprise. They drove another dumptruck of money (a dumptruck with a cloak apparently) and he did it again. I was hoping he'd be gone but if not him, they should reboot the entire movieverse and start over. A War for Cybertron would be nice.

Just by that little bit of info, what if the crashed ship is the nemesis, and there is a copy of the Covenant of Primus which is found - which then it turn is used to explain what Prime is doing in space/who is he looking for etc. Beast wars gets its movie due somewhat.

Also, it's a bit fucking disingenuous to play down the transformers movies when they have represented the bulk of your professional career.

Yeah sure, context matters - it's Rolling Stone, so he wants to appear jaded, edgy and suchlike. But rolling stone are about as cool and relevant as poor, confused old Keef these days.

When you see it as a day job, an obligation, why would your work be anything but derivative? Bring in another director who is stoked as fuck about working on the film, not the guy who rolls his eyes and grits his teeth as he strains to force out another firm, fiberous sequel. I would quit my job tomorrow if I thought what I was creating was just passable, or simply ticked the right boxes.

Gah. I don't even know where I'm going with this.

Yeah it's a toy commercial, but why can't it at least be fun ferchrissakes? AoE was the first thing in the last 30 years that made me feel a bit awkward about my collection of children's toys because it was so, so very bad - and we were complicit in its success by buying the mediocre toys churned out off the back of a horrendous promo.

Yes they make skiploads of money, yes they keep the toyline alive, but is out not possible they could actually be coherent, entertaining movies and still make bank?

but the nemesis is already crashed, on like pluto or something, we saw it in ROTF, its the ship the fallen was on.

ah who am i kidding, like they care about continuity. so if they have to thrown some out to get some beast wars on screen im game.

I hope it's a lot more 4 or 3 than 1, but to each their own. I like the solo Kruger films a lot more than the Orci/Kurtzman films.

Not surprised at all by this news. Bay will never leave the main films. Only the spin-offs will end up with different directors.

Well, I wouldn't give up all hope. At least Ehren Kruger is gone. So, maybe the writing will be better with TF5.

    Maybe.

True, but Jackson made those films simultaneously. Essentially he made two giant movies and then split them up into six. Bay has the option of dropping out after each one, but keeps coming back.

they could easily say its another ship, since its never called Nemesis in the movie itself, we only know its the nemesis from the tie in material.

Well, that's two disappointments right off the bat: He's saying on as director, and the plot is going to involve yet another alien something or other landing on earth and being discovered after all this time. Yay.

Transformers is Bay's baby. He's never going to go away so long as the films make bank. Which they do.

I LIKED Age of Extinction! Certainly a hell of a lot more than the first three. There was some real pathos there comparatively with a plot that made a hell of a lot more sense than the others. Human characters that were more likeable than the other three and a focus on a smaller cast of robots as to develop them as characters worked out well.

If bay really is back I hope to hell 5 is more like 4.

I mean I'm not surprised but it's a little sad that we'll have to wait another two years for hopefully a different director. I just want a new take on live-action TFs for once.
