so my best friend just got us into lego star wars. my girl absolutely adored that game, just beat it tonight, and I'd like to get her some others. the thing is she's not too good at handling controls or frustration, which is why lego was good for her--it's simple and if you die, you don't have to start over. the only other games I've seen her able to enjoy are harvest moon, katamari, marble mania on the wii, and zelda for the snes, which she used a walkthrough to get by.

so with those basic rules--easy controls, not losing your progress when you die, and that I don't have a gamecube or any of the current-gen systems, can I get some recommendations?

Lego Island 2. That's an easy game I own.

Most Lego games are easy. But the original Lego Racers can be HARD. I still haven't beaten mine!

Have any handhelds? If not I think a DS is a great investment, plenty of games on there she'd be likely to love (Animal Crossing, Nintendogs, some of the touch generation games and what not).

There's a Lego Batman game coming out, but I am uncertain as to whether or not it will only be current systems or if it will be on the PS2 as well. If she enjoyed Lego Star Wars she'd probably enjoy it as well. Sim games would also be a good choice.

Chrono Trigger. As RPGs go it was pretty easy but it was amazing. That and it's just plain CHRONO TRIGGER. Plus if any fight is too hard she can grind a bit to make it easier. Though I never really had to do any grinding to get through the story.

Get a DS. Plenty of fun timewasters that don't involve twitch gameplay and can be fun for just about anyone. My thought on it is, if I spend most of my DS playing time on the can at work, those games can't be too bad for the general audience.

Now games that don't have the player take a hit to their progress when they die, that's a bit of a tough one. But there are plenty of fun puzzle games and stuff.

ooh, sorry, I don't have any handhelds, either. gonna have to say no to those, as we're not going to be buying any more systems, and she actually HATES portable games.

with the lego batman and indy games coming out, I was thinking about those, but then also that it might be lego overkill, so I was hoping for something a bit different.

    sorry to be picky ;)

    Wow...

well, the only thing I could really suggest then is picking up a gamecube(since you said you didn't have one) as they can be had dirt cheap.

yeah, I know, finding games for her's a hassle. she can't even do ms. pac-man (too fast and she has problems turning quickly) or a mickey mouse game because the timing's hard to get a jump+head stomp on an enemy. yet she then turns around and has a ball with a somewhat tricky game like marble mania or something that requires SOME coordination like star wars. go figure.

Can handle a marble game(never played it, but I'm sure it's like any other marble madness game), but can't deal with pac-man? That's back asswards. Oh well, what can ya do?

Hmm. My wife likes Hexic on XBL.

She also likes Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on 360, playing it and watching it being played. I suspect its because it looks so pretty and close to the films (all the pictures in the Grand hall move!)

Your wife might also like Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball 2 on 360.

    Bouncy.

    ;)

Rather than what don't you, exactly which systems do you have? It's not entirely clear from your post.

Get her to try Popcap's Peggle. Then learn to live without your computer. I don't know a single woman (and most men) who didn't get addicted to it like crack.

you can get a gamecube/paper mario bundle at walmart for $70 around here, not sure if they have them there... but that game would probably be a decent pick anyway. animal crossing for the cube definitely. my wife loved the ds one. wind waker would be good too... the gamecube would be a good system to get for easier type games that a girl gamer could like. that's the kind of stuff my wife likes to play... but she prefers the ds. animal crossing, pokemon, zelda, harvest moon...

Pikmin more or less a puzzle and maybe a "real time strategy" game.

You control an astronaught who crash lands on a planet. He's able to control these creatures, pikmen, to help him recover parts of his ship. There are different colored pikmen that are capible of different abilties. Red pikmin can carry and attack things better, blue can swim, and yellows can throw bombs (I think). You have to guide the Pikmin around, and escort them when they carry things.

It's a pretty simple game but it does require you to think. I wouldn't say its a pick up and play game like Tetris or even Smash Brothers.

Rock Band or Guitar Hero 3. But I lean more on Rock Band since it is a bit easier on Guitar, especially if she plays Bass. Also, have options to sing or play the Drums. Its probably the funniest multiplayer game I've played ... EVER.

Supermonkey ball 2 for GC was fun, we used to play that all the time.
It's sord of like mario party except you're a ball in all the minigames. With a monkey in it.
She also played pikmin and bejeweled for a little bit

Resident Evil 4. That's one of them games they actually get a little thrill out of watching you play it
