We have about 2 weeks to construct a team of 5 board members who are attending BotCon this year to represent the website at the Faction Feud event listed for Friday night.

For those who do not know, the Faction Feud contest is a trivia game which puts Transformers message boards in competition against each other.

The structure goes as such:
Teams of 5 line up on each side of a table, there is one buzzer for each team. One person from each team steps up to their buzzer, a question is asked and players buzz in to answer, the first registered "buzz-in" will answer the question. After the question is answered both players move to the end of their respective lines and the next team member in line steps up to the buzzer. At the end, the team with the most points advances to the next round.

Things to note:
- Each person at the buzzer is playing directly against the other one, and cannot discuss the questions with their team.
- An incorrect answer will subtract points from your total
- Questions can range from extremely simple, to bizarrely obscure. All Transformer related trivia
- If the structure holds from last year, the questions are multiple choice. The questions will be read out loud and also displayed on an overhead projector. Meaning that you can read ahead and buzz in to answer before the question is completely read to you

Now obviously we cannot accept everyone who responds to this thread, but we would like to gauge the interest some of you would have in this if you are attending the convention. If you think you can REALLY represent TFW2005 well in this competition then let us know.

We need to construct a team of 5 board members, and I am giving this thread until a week from today. Next week we will close the thread and discuss amongst the staff on who we feel could be the best 5 to represent us in this event.

We tried this last year, and it worked out ok, but there were a few snags. This year we need to construct a team of 5 people who are absolutely committed to the team, no matter what else you have going on if you agree to be at the team you have to show up at the event. We are looking for a group of 5 who can compete and who can try to win.

We had a large group out cheering on and supporting the team last year, I expect the same this year.

Sound off if you are serious or committed to this and we will announce the team late next week.

I would volunteer, but my knowledge of the comics is quite crappy. I'll be cheering you on like the past two years though! TFW FTW!

 

Count me in. Last year was a blast, this year we're aiming for the gold!

 

I will certainly be there to cheer people on and say, "Aaaaayyyyyy" at random moments, but I'm sure there are more knowledgeable people than me. If you need a pinch hitter, though, gimme a shout.

And hopefully they'll have different questions this year, 'stead of using the same bunch as '06 and '07.

 

Marvel comics? I read those for *fun*. Seriously.

When will this be held? The itinerary I got with my confirm letter said Friday night, or is that the finals?

 

That's a thought, is there a "submit questions" form up this year? Might have to cook up a batch of questions I know I'll know the answers to.

 

Friday night will likely be the first rounds. They might be including the second rounds and finals that night as well, but last year they merely told the teams who had advanced when to show back up. And as the faction feud was being held in the same room that held most of the panels, there were no scheduling conflicts with other panels.

 

We should dredge up the question thread from last year. There were some really good ones in there. Once we find out how, and when to submit them, we should.

Also, while I don't think I would be very good on the team, I will be there cheering on Team TFW2005.

We will worry about the questions after we get the team decided.

The most memorable line from that event last year for me was you getting points and screaming out "I WILL NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION!" Most awesome!

I'll be there, but only in photography and cheerleading in capacity. I didn't know any of the trivia last time, and I don't want to hold us back from reaching the top.

 

I wish I had paid more attention to the TF media over the years... I would totally enjoy doing this but I'd probably get 1 or 2 questions right... come on we need more men! PUSH!

 

How negative did we end up going? If I remember correctly it was enough for us to get kicked off of Jeopardy.
