    Hello everyone,

While perusing Amazon today I came across a 400-page novel coming out in January called Transformers: Retribution. I did a search here on the boards and didn't come up with anything. Does anyone know anything else about this novel? Is this based on G1, Prime or the next cartoon? Here's the link:

Transformers: Retribution: David J. Williams, Mark Williams: 9780345519870: Amazon.com: Books

    Thanks,

    vfnfvne

PS Sorry if this doesn't belong here. I wasn't sure where to post about this.

It's the prequel book to the TFP series from the looks of the cover.

Is it a reprint? I'm usually good about picking up the novels, so I was surprised to see this.

    It's not a reprint it's a completely new story.

Looks like they're describing it as a prequel to the original Autobot / Decepticon crash landing on Earth.
Ret-conning in a story involving Quints on the way from Cybertron to Earth.

No thanks for me. I'll stick to my Star Wars original version thanks!

Probably another one of those (god awful) Aliened Continuity novels.

I don't know why they even bother anymore.

Not when the best TF novel ever is free anyway ;)

It's the third in the Exodus/Exiles series of Aligned continuity novels.

There's a new author so maybe it'll be better? Maybe? *sighs*

From the preview pages we got of Retribution, it makes Exodus/Exiles look like classic literature.

I mean, we're talking really, really bad. Like, Omni Productions dub tier.

    Which TF novel is that?

And yeah, as for this...it was hilariously juvenile writing, like they'd literally just said "well, we're contractually obligated with the publisher to do 3 books, so hire whoever you can find". No offense to the author in question, mind, but the book honestly needed gutting and heavy editing if the preview was representative of the entire work.

Plus they stole my accursed faction name! I came up with Tyrannicons, dammit! :mad

    Yeah it is!

Eugenesis. James Roberts wrote it before he worked for IDW. It continues the story of the old Marvel G1 comics.
