To make a long story short, I'm trying to get everything together to make a Shattered Glass Combiner Wars Optimus Prime and "team." The core idea is that he uses "scavenged" (dead) limbs for his combined mode. Though I don't want to just go with grey limbs, and instead planned on desaturating their colors, while still being recognizable.

For the Limbs, I planned on using the molds of Alpha Bravo, Rook, Jet Blastoff, and Offroad. But, I'm unsure about who or what to paint them after and was hoping some of you guys might have ideas. Some of the ideas I have currently stand at:

- Alpha Bravo: Micromaster Decepticon Chain Gun (as apparently that team is SG Superion?)
- Rook: Universe Onslaught
- Jet Blastoff: Either a Cyber Jet or one of the limbs of Superion Maximus?
- Offroad: Unreleased/stolen G2 deco?

(I planned on using these molds, as they are not original members, and reflecting upon how fans originally received them. With them now being "dead" for this custom, I'm running with the joke idea of "no one will miss them.")

As you can probably tell, I'm really iffy on these ideas currently. I know the SG color schemes pulled inspiration from a lot of things, far more than I am aware of, so I would love to hear any ideas you might have for any of the components!

Do you only want the colors to reference other transformers? I have this idea if you are ok referencing other media.
As SG Optimus is an inversion of heroic Optimus Prime, the dead limbs he uses could reference dead partners of heroes of other media, like Artax, Robin, Bucky or Krillin.
If you want to keep it Transformers you could reference the colors of combiner team members that have been killed. Possible spoilers ahead: Blastoff with the colors of Slingshot, Alpha Bravo with the colors of Stormclash, Rook as himself and Offroad as someone else. But when I think about it, those molds were already redecoed as those other characters, so maybe it's not as clever.

 

Hadn't thought about the dead sidekicks; That's a good one! As for the other option, while it could work, I'm trying to edge away from painting them as characters who already use the mold. Heck, that's one of the issues I ran into with Blastoff, as because of the mold, it eliminates two of the five of the aerialbots.
