    Hi guys,
I'm about to start an graded rookie hockey card collection, and I was wondering if anyone had any advice.

    A few specific questions:

Which grading company is most respected or desired?

How do I check if a card or grade is legit?

Do you know of any good message boards about this stuff?

Any other advice for someone starting this kind of collection?

    Thanks in advance guys :)

    Ebay:
I know Beckett still grades but I have been out of the hocky card collecting for several years, I just dont think that the whole grading of hockey cards is that big. From what I remeber the grading never hit so big with the card collectors. a toploader works just as well in most cases.

I think your best bet is just to see if you can google some sort of answer.

This isn't necessarily so. The two big companies are BGS and PSA. BGS (Beckett) is best for regular stuff and PSA is best for vintage. I don't deal with grading at all, but here is a community that would know better than me:

    Ebay:
Yes but just check ebay and grading vs none graded.

It is mostly vintage vcards and so on (atleast when I collected that got graded or some really low shit like 1/10 and so on.

Then you always have morons who grade a 25 cent card and expect 40$

Most cards arent worth the cardboard stock theyre printed on, that said attach them to your bicycle spokes and have a good time.

This. Unless it is an abosolute pristine rookie card of a superstar, an extremely rare error card or a baseball card from 1960ish on back the market has really collapsed.

Thank you. That was useful :)

I'll be looking for 9-10 graded rookie cards of superstars only, from the 80s until now. Thanks

your welcome do your homework and make sure of what your buying is legit especially if your buying an ungraded card to get graded.

Yeah, I plan to buy cards already graded. Might be more expensive, but I feel more comfortable doing it that way.

Thinking of making my first one Joe Sakic :)
I was a Nordiques fan growing up...
Also thinking of going all OPC for the vintage stuff..

    Thanks again man :)
