Universe 2.0 Prowl is probably the best representation. He looks very anime accurate and has good articulation. He's not without flaws, his doors can break off easily during transformation, shoulders look slouched, and I'm not a big fan of his shins/feet, but he still looks very accurate. I think he's the best Prowl we've had thus far, and he fits in very well with any classics collection. In fact, he's delivering an important Autobot mission briefing in Prime's absence on my Autobot Classics shelf right now.
classics is a great figure. (i have 2 classics prowls and they both have perfect paint by the way. but everyone says he has sticky paint.) henkei is awesome because of the chrome missiles and no worry paint. the binaltech red alert with a prowl headswap and reprolabels is an AWESOME sight. Probably the closest well ever see to a masterpiece prowl. if youre not worried about money go for henkei or the binaltech. if youre on a budget get the classics, you wont regret it. animated samuri prowl is my avatar. it is also awesome, but animated gave him a much different look than usual.
I don't know, I think the Alternators Prowl already coming with the Prowl head and paint apps is pretty good too. Definitely up there on the list of top Prowls IMO.
Depends on the size you want but the BT Red Alert/Prowl headswap has gotta be the definitive: Just a shame the Binaltech Arming kits are so rare....they really finish the Alts/BT's off.
Sem problema! the missile launchers are from Binaltech Arming kits, that was pretty easy to come by in the old days.
Universe Prowl is probably one of my lesser favorite Universe molds. His proportions are ugly, especially the neck-shoulder area.
The added bonus to Uni Prowl is that IDW is using that design as the basis for the Prowl artwork in the series. At least they were when I last checked.
I echo the sentiment regarding 2.0 Prowl. Definitely a nice figure to have if you're a Prowl fan. Same goes for the Binaltech Red Alert w/Prowl head swap. I'd also recommend the G1 figure. Animated Prowl is nice as well. There's a Japanese exclusive with a G1 deco I believe.
Personally I think Animated Prowl is the best, but if you are looking for a definitive classic version of the character I still think G1 Prowl is greatest.
how do I tell if the universe ones are 2.0 or not? I found a bunch of universe ones on ebay, but they don't say 2.0

Universe 2.0 is just what the fans call it ~ the first Universe line came out around 03/04 (late Armada-early Energon) and featured fairly involved redecos of molds from G2-Armada the second Universe line (which fans generally refer to as either Universe 2.0 or Classics 2.0) came out between the 07 movie and ROTF and featured mostly original molds like Prowl/Bluestreak/Smokescreen, Sunstreaker/Sideswipe, Inferno and more...
