I am wondering if people have noticed that Lockdown's body looks like an alien (cliched-looking) spacesuit that we have seen from previous blockbuster films, like Man of Steel or any movie with Gieger influence (lol). Thoughts?
I think he reminds me of Iron Man, with the visor and arm-built weapons. Which may have been an influence on the design.
Nothing Ironman nor spacesuit-ish about Lockdown's design. The overal aesthetics of those examples are way to smoothed out, beveled and rounded out. AOE Lockdown's design reminds me more of the military droid in Rise of the Robots : both feature that spikey, cyberpunk-ish style.
No, his head design at least was not influenced by anything like that, not based on iron man or an alien space suit. Several years before AOE, an artist called vitaly bulgarov did some concept art of a futuristic female fighter pilot. He then got the job on AOE, and they reused his old concept art as visor down lockdown. Completely, barely even modified. http://www.bulgarov.com/p_pilot.html You're spot on with the giger comment though, bulgarov is heavily giger influenced.
yeah especially the head with its spacesuit type visor that can cover his entire face. plus he has the whole human face in robot body suit look.
i don't see ANY resemblance to a space suit or an iron man type suit.. at all.. the only similarity between lockdown and the man of steel suits are that they're both similar colors, but that's it. sometimes need to look past the colors.
he looks like a suit from Mass Effect to me. I like his design, his crew look similar to him too, maybe he's not Cybertronian?
