So, given most of the world is stuck at home for an extended period either already or imminently (tomorrow for us in the UK), and no new products are likely to be released for a very long time, which of your older figures are you dusting off to have a play with and reacquaint yourselves with? I've got my Fanstoys Insecticons and Toyworld Coneheads hanging around at the moment. Hadn't touched them for a good few years, purely due to a combination of lack of time and getting new stuff regularly. It's nice to see how these still feel and look great... although I am much more gentle with Forager than the others. They've all held up so well.
I've put all of my chug Headmasters in storage and got my FM out of storage, transformed him into spaceship mode and displaying him with season three Autobots and Monsterbots. I've put Transportation Captain, TLK leader Megatron, a Gundam, Zeta Air Raid, Toyworld TLK Bee, and Ocular Max Zinnia together on a new shelf and given Zinnia a new pose. I'm going to dust off my MP Decepticon shelves and display Fanstoys Sovereign, Quietus, and Dracula with their PW and KO versions and display all the season one tool-formers (Megatron, Soundwave etc...) in alt mode on a shelf together. I put all my MP carbots in storage after displaying them one last time with new recruit X-transbots Savant and am going to take them out individually to play with or display on a temperary place on the shelf from now on.
I'm in Illinois and the only ones locked down are the pencil pushers and small businesses from what I've seen today
Several businesses are open that shouldn't be. I guess they didn't get the memo. I'm a truck driver hauling grain so I didn't get a two week vacation
Sold off most of the '86 Movie MPs, most of the few remaining CHUG in the collection, working it down to S1 & S2 MPs with a few exceptions for exceptional figures or ones that represent figures I had as a kid that happen to be from later seasons. Did some adjusting of other collections, too. I've also been doing more work than normal, not less, so it hasn't been a vacation or anything close to that. Any hope to use the time to catch up on media or re-arrange the collection has taken a back seat. But I'm just thankful to still have a job given what's going on around us so no real complaints.
I'm working from home but my job has a lot of downtime so it's almost a vacation. Spent last week working on a custom Charlie to go with my Zeta Bumblebee so that's my current go to toy but I've also done a bit of posing and photographing of MMC Azalea and MP Blackarachnia for the boudoir thread (submitted a few recently but I've taken a few more I need to clean up in Photoshop). That's about it for toys. Mostly I'm passing the time with Netflix in the background while I do my work. We're not really shut down here but my employer decided to take preemptive action since our work can be done fairly easily from home.
Desk-jockey here, working from home. Busted out most of my MPM-style TFs from the 07 movie, have them on the dining room table while I'm working.
Wisconsin announced all non-essential businesses closed effective tomorrow..but we've been deemed essential business so no down time for me. I'm glad to have a paycheck coming in but wouldn't have minded getting away from the nonsense for a bit. I kept procrastinating over getting a shelf to set up my 12" figures but now Ikea is closed for the time being.
As of tomorrow, everything in the UK is closed except grocery stores and pharmacies. My company jumped the gun, and used the outbreak to massively downsize it's workforce about a month back, and as I was contracting, I was one of the casualties... got the e-mail on my wedding day too, which was nice. Fortunately I was in NZ, so it was received late at night after the festivities were finished, so it didn't put a downer on the day. So no working from home, but it also means absolutely no jobs going currently. I hafe a lot of free time at the moment... just trying to stop myself getting too bored.
I’m still working, even though I’m sick as a dog (totally different symptoms). Hell, I even went to work the day following hernia surgery. I’ll stop working when I die.
Yup. A hell of a lot of people aren't getting playtime at home. I'm in retail management with an "essential" business so I'm working as usual too. Intriguing that everyone is told to stay home to stay safe but underpaid retail workers are expected to keep going in- often surrounded by the tin foil hat crowd who thinks it's a hoax and are out as usual and putting us at risk. We have to keep going in so that the people sitting at home can buy stuff they need when its convenient for them. Seriousness aside, this whole deal straight sucks. Hopefully some of you can find some good through it, so carry on!
Drives me crazy how so many people don't seem to understand what social distancing is. I'm sure it seems paranoid when I move to the far side of the aisle when walking by someone but it's better safe than sorry and it pisses me off when others don't make the effort. Other than that, I have to confess I feel kind of guilty for just how much I'm enjoying this whole thing. I'm a socially awkward introvert and I'm finding that I'm in a better mood all the time since I don't have to go places and be around people - when I actually do go to the store, I just feel more relaxed and I don't get irritated by other drivers - I guess because my anxiety level is lower from not being in traffic or being around people. So yeah, having a great time but I feel bad about it because others are having a bad time.
I live in Canada, and it seems, the Beer stores are considered essential stores that will NOT be locked-down!!! Now tell me how you dont see something is very wrong here... Anyways, i want to build my gundam model, but no time. It's busier now working from home, and getting more projects... Honestly, would love buying a few more models and just building for a while, but never have time I downsized a quite a bit too on my TF, and pretty much done with my displays until i have time to add a few more i brought from work to home...
I've been doing some online retail therapy and bought a ton of 3rd party bots. Now I'm going through my collection and deciding what to part with so I can make some room.
Spent about 1.5hrs tonight just dusting my MP and called it a day (Shit gets exhausting lol) but I plan to dust the rest and put them all back in their boxes 2mmorow and store them away then see how I feel about not having them up for display. Before all the Coronavirus Crisis/lockdown goin on, I've always felt like ive been losing more and more interest in the Hobby/Collection and this will determine how I feel about them. Of course if it's time to sell them off,I still do plan to keep a couple that meant something to my childhood. Hoping everyone is doing A-O-K out there and not goin crazy staying in. Think of stuff you prolonged getting done for the longest time and get on to it . Cheer's folks and take it easy!
I ordered the new Anime Takara Smokescreen and got around to ordering XTB’s Hatch. So looking forward to those hopefully showing up during quarantine. Otherwise I just have some Earthrise Grapple and Hoist figs on my makeshift work from home desk. I feel like pulling out my Sovereign though and messing with him tomorrow.
I had the same opinion until a doctor friend explained why. There are some people out there with Alcohol Dependence issues. Short answer: If these people cut down on their intake of alcohol they develop withdrawal symptoms that can be life threatening. Which means they get sent to the ER who are busy enough with Covid19 patients. Long answer: google is your friend. Also if the Beer store or LCBO (Ontario sellers) or SAQ(Quebec) were closed for weeks people wouldn’t break in and steal that stuff? People need their wines and beer to drink and to cook with.
