So in the movie, Lockdown expresses annoyance towards both Autobots and Decepticons, and belongs to neither faction. So why do all his toys label him as a Decepticon and have their logo plastered all over him? Espicially on the deluxe figure. It looks so dumb and out of place on his door! What interactions did he even have with Decepticons, if any? The closest thing was when he saved Galvatron from Optimus.

Because they can't not brand him as belonging to a faction. It's strictly a business thing, and I think the general lack of 'Cons in the toyline and the fact that he is kind of evil means Decepticon it is.

But we all know the truth.

It's just Hasbro needs to put a faction on the figures thing.Even Ejector the kitchen bot is a Decepticon in the toyline. As Lockdown is more enclined to evil,Hasbro made him a con

"Meh, he seems like a nice guy." -Tommy Boy

Lockdown is just doing his job. How is that evil? Come on Hasbro. I think Lockdown could be seen as a good guy, considering he's trying to put the universe back in balance. Think Marvel's The Collector.

Being a bad guy doesn't mean you have to be a Decepticon. He was working with some corrupt CIA agents but not the Decepticons

Hasbro always (barring Thundertron) labels their bad guy toys as Cons. No biggie.

I noticed that the packaging of this year's movie toys doesn't really emphasize on the faction symbols. I hoped they could've made him his own this. Even if they did label him as a Decepticon on the box, why stamp it randomly on his figure itself?

I'm curious as to why Hasbro has to put everyone into a faction. Is there an actual law? Is it company policy?

They're afraid young children will get confused, because life must be black and white/good and evil.

To sell toys, every hero needs a villain.

Most characters get aligned with one faction or the other even those who aren't either like Lockdown.

Unicron isn't a Decepticon either but is labelled as one in toys.

There's one thing that isn't being considered here as well. What if Lockdown actually is a Decepticon? Jetfire says it's a choice, and Lockdown could potentially be above such things, but he had to start somewhere and the war's gone on a long time. You never know!

It's probably the branding thing though. And considering how he's a monstrously evil guy (anyone saying "he's just doing his job" is clearly missing the major evil here), Decepticons fit him perfectly.

Were all Transformers drawn into one side or another during the war? Were there no civilians or mercs or other groups?
